In short: This is THE race In full: I've ran every section of the race during 7 years of living in London. This race pieced together 7 years of memories. The crowd, organisers, volunteers and friends and family made it an incredible race from start to finish. I will forever remember this race. It is the best present London could give me as a leaving gift when I relocate overseas next month. I'll miss you Date of review: April 25, 2012
In short: Disaster organisation In full: stood waiting for 45mins because of Tube delay. so I had to warm up and prepare myself again which was not ideal. could easily started the race on time for the peopl already there (people who were organised enough to be there early taking into account the normal transport chaos, then do another start say 30mins later for the late comers. Really ruined my plans for after the run.
The course was so boring until you reach Greenwich Park. and the 'Beat' was non existance. Good job there were lots of supports round the course.
The end was free for all. couldn't believe my eyes when people taking boxes full of goodies. and no one stopping them.
In short: Very well organised and pancake flat - great for PB. In full: Can't fault the organisation, there were plenty of people on hand to help/direct/water/sponge. What more would you want for a race!!
In short: This is what running is all about!! In full: This was a great race, good scenary, nice (almost) waist high bogs and some hills to go with it. It has been quite good weather for the last few days but the bogs were quite deep - just image if it rained!! Even more fun!! The goody bag was generous, worth the entry fee for that alone!! Salomon Tech T-shirt (with a choice of Black or White),a pair of 1000mile running socks, a shoes bag, a milk shake, 2 energy/hydration sachets and a granola bar. When's the next one?? In short: The organisor must have made a fortune. Not even a banana at the end! In full: Far Far too many people took me almost 30 mins to start. Not even timed! got a awful cotton t-shirt (why asics don't give out a technical T like other cheaper races is beyond me). The 'band' at the start only played 1 song (and i can't even work out what it was as i was so far back)and stood there, why?? If it wasn't for the spectators it was more dull than my worst training run. Would really like to know where the money went? With the Bupa London 10000 competing with this i think this race will be history very soon. Date of review: July 6, 2008
In short: Good Race - But would welcome more cheerful marshalls please In full: Good race, Great t-shirt and a great big goody bag at the end so it was good value. No staggered start and didn't see any of the Virgin Active pace groups either...
I particularlly like the challenging hills which made the race a bit more interesting - the one just before the 5k mark was quite a climb. and I'll more than likely be back next year to have another go at them as I managed to knock 3 minutes.
Hopefully next year the marshalls are more happy as we ran passed Date of review: June 15, 2008
In short: Good cause to run for, not a good course to run in. In full: doing lap round the block is more dull than i thought. The course is not measured accurately and I lost count the number of laps I ran (jogged) after the 4th! supposed to be 8 laps = 10km! too many walkers after 1/2 lap. and why walk in the middle of the course when it is narrow as it was?!?!
however the event was very lively and fun.... if you don't take it too seriously! Date of review: June 5, 2008
