In short: Challenging and scenic race. Excellent first attempt - I will be back! In full: The Run the Rock Team obviously put in a lot of effort to make this very scenic but challenging off-road race a success. Despite it being an inaugural charity event, the organisation was excellent and the event was well-thought out. Date of review: June 10, 2013

In short: Very well organised, fast course but strong winds this year. In full: Very well organised race as usual from Alchester on what can be a fast course if the wind behaves - which it didn't today! Only critiscism today was the km markers - they were a long way out in places, with splits coming out very erratically as a result (eg 4:22 followed by 3:08!. 2&3, then 5,6&7 were the worst. In short: Challenging 10k, with plenty of hills in a lovely location for a great charity In full: Well done Sam and all involved in putting this one on. The last hill was a shock to the system (should have checked the map more closely!). Excellent organisation, a fantastically scenic venue, good atmosphere and even the weather was kind! In short: Fast course, great organisation In full: Very well organised race on a fast course (though the last two rail bridges do take it out of you!) and a PB for me too. Nice goody bag and fruit and only 50p for a tea. Only hiccup in the otherwise silky smooth organisation was getting away at the end. Soemthing went badly wrong with the road marshalling for cars leaving the station car park for a time. A large number of us were directed through a convoluted diversion only to find it eventually ended at another road closure, where we all had to do a U turn before heading back into the same queue we'd just driven past. It took over half an hour just to get back to where we started from - not good with legs seizing up and another 90 miles round the M25 to get home! Date of review: April 2, 2012

In short: The usual excellent organisation form RR In full: Did the 10 this year, having done the 20 three times before, and with no spring marathon this year. As always, it was very well organised. Not sure about those saying it's pancake flat though! It's not a hilly course by any means, and is reasonably fast but there are a few inclines, including a longish one between 6 and 7 miles that add up to about 250 ft on the 10 and nearly 500 over the 20. Very good prize pot for those of us lucky enough to sneak into it, but the best thing by far was the top VFM tea and cake stall in the schoolhall afterwards! Date of review: February 14, 2012

In short: Fast Course (if windy today) with excellent organisation In full: Excellent organisation and a very fast course, though the wind took the edge off it today. Most impressed with the live reults on the website too! Shame about the couple of short stretches of grass verge, and the narrow pavement along the A40 (into the wind!), but difficult for the organisers to safely avoid these I guess. Cakes, tea and sausage rolls at the end were a bargain! One question though - was there really only one sit down loo for the blokes or did I just not look hard enough?

In short: Tough but rewarding, well organised multi terrain In full: A very enjoyable multi-terrain route in the beautiful Chilterns. Very well organised. My only slight grumble is that at around the 8k - 9k point the front runners and tail enders have to pass each other in opposite directions along a narrow bridleway. This worked OK when both kept to the left as advised by marshalls (though not always easy at speed!), but a couple of runners seemed oblivious to this bit of common sense! In short: Another great Ridgeway Run from TRC In full: 8th Ridgeway Run for me and still loving this race. Silky smooth organisation combined with a really nice route. Well done to the RD and his team. The only slight downside for me this year was the price of a bacon sarnie in the clubhouse which at £3 was steeper than the run up to the monument! In short: Very scenic low-key local race, but attrected some fast runners this year! In full: Very scenic route and fun to run with a very friendly atmosphere. All four of the top runners beat the previous fastest time so a bit of local pot-hunting going on for the meal for two first prize I think! The winners sub 59 time is going to stand as a course record for a very long time! The scenic, very well signed, course also gave a very good indication of how the other half live - we even passed one private house with it's own moat! Must remember to bring some sarnies and a flask for next year, as there was nowhere to get refreshments after, but should have thought of this myself given the size of the race! Well done and thanks to Mike and his team for putting this one on.

In short: Scenic, challenging and very well organised In full: Great little race this one. Hilly and rough enough to be a bit challenging, set in a lovely location around Hughenden and great organisation from Purple Patch. The arch and flags arounfd the start gave it the feel of a much bigger race and the apple at the end was a nice touch. Marshalling and signage round the course was spot on.
Only slight niggles for me was that as the race grows in size they will need more loos (nearer to the start would be good too) and these ran out of loo roll early on. The sausage and bacon baps were a bit prcey at £3.60 too (Ciabata or not!), but as these were the ponly food available I had no choice (too early a start for breakfast!) Date of review: July 10, 2011
