In short: City-centre Road Race- Bored of these now In full: Great organisation, people pretty friendly, but race very pricey. Scenery was boring, and did not enjoy running through an underground car park! Road surface on dual carriageway was actually really rough and therefore not even enjoyable in a road-race way. Maybe it's because i've been getting into trail running recently but this race was just pretty boring! Sorry Sheffield! Running to point and back is also quite dull but i am led to believe this is order to make run flatter (?).Really wish i hadn't entered this before they put Leeds Half back on! I did the like the water-mist tunnel though! i would say this is a good race, as are any urban 10Ks, for real beginners, as it's good experience and introduction to roadracing. More interesting route please! Date of review: September 15, 2008
In short: Amazing! In full: This was simply superb. My first half and I enjoyed it so much. Great atmosphere, well-organised. I was happy to be near the back, taking my time and enjoying the fabulous scenery. Approach to castle and last 2M on beach were highlights. Happy marshalls, even cheerier spectators. So very proud i got round after struggling with a 10m race just a week before. Thanks to marshall at 'About 2 Miles to go' point who gave me some extra water when i really needed it! I'll be back next year!!!! Date of review: July 22, 2008
In short: Hills, Hills, Hills! In full: Oh. My. God. Those. Bloody. Hills!!! Having said that, the downhills were awesome. Good atmosphere, race was fast but not elitist. I came very near the end but didn't care- what an achievement to get round! well-organised,good bottle of beer. Will be there next year. Date of review: July 22, 2008
In short: Great Race in a Beautiful Part of the World! In full: Great race, well-organised. Unexpected sunshine made last 3 miles bit harder than expected. Great encouragment from marshalls and public. Friendly, chatty atmosphere. Loo queue a little long at the start though! Nice mug at the end- a useful momento, hurrah! Date of review: July 22, 2008
In short: Well-oranised, encourgaing marshalls if lacking a little in runners and atmosphere In full: It was a shame more runners didn't turn out- the clash with rothwell or lack of press outside of Bradford was probably to blame. It seemed most who did run were members of running clubs and/or finishing in 50m and under.
Nice to have KM markers, nice flat, fast route, scenery nothing to write home about. Marshalls need a big thank you for being smiley and encouraging throughout. Excellent that all roads were shut- makes such a difference.
Would run it next year but more press, more runners, meter coutdown to finishing line, get sponsored by water comany and give out bottles of water (not cups) and don't clash with Rothwell. That way, you're sure to have an amazing event! Great effort for first year though! Date of review: April 21, 2008
