In short: A wonderful race, real mix of terrain with great marshalls all the way. The Woodland is at the start and the Challenge is near the end!
In full: For the record I will have a biased view as I run for the club that organises the event! However I am well known for my impartiality...

The race venue had moved from previous years and I have to say I found the new start/finish area to be better with a nice green open space, excellent refreshments and good facilities. Although registration opened at just after 8am for a 10.30 start the vast bulk of runners arrived around the same time creating a long queue to get the numbers/timing chips which was taking slightly longer than anticipated.

In the spirit of the club (no one gets left behind) the start was correctly delayed until everyone was ready. This was generally well received, especially by those in the queue, and I'm sure the good weather helped. With this exception I couldn't fault another thing.

The route was excellently marked and marshalled, so there was no fear of going wrong, a water stop at just the right place and a real challenge of a mile run uphill near the end followed by a ommentator to get you over the line.

The goody bag was great with a technical top for dark nights, a Mars bar (greatly received) and water together with the usual weighty tins.

As a competitor I had a great run, enjoyed the friendly atmosphere, thought the location was spot on and I was really impressed by everyone who stayed on to cheer in the final few runners. Lots of thanks to a great support from Stainland Lions who turned out in large numbers and to all of my club mates who were out doing an endless list of tasks that thanks to some great organising just appear to happen! Great stuff.

In short: Fantastic atmosphere, great marshalls, bumper goody bag and a challenging course. That's just the fun run!
In full: Third time I have done this event. My one disappointment last year was the problems on the timing system but I was happy to see that the organisation was clockwork this year and Dr Ron Hill was able to present all of the prizes.
The course is a tough two lap race over mixed terrain, the hardest bit this year being the slippy roads and staying on your feet while cornering. The marshalls were as supportive and vocal as ever and ensure that you always know where you're going on the meandering route.
The start/finish area is well set out and there's lots going on for the supporters, who certainly make themselves heard as you come through at the end of each lap!
Fantastic goody bag at the end of the race with spot prizes on offer and a tech t-shirt as well.
On top of all this there is also a great fun run for the kids before hand which my two kids did and had a great time, the support on this was fantastic with every runner applauded over the line and yet more goodie bags (and medals) to reward their efforts.
Will certainly be back next year, only a shame the fun has to limited to 300 entrants!
