In short: Superbly organised - well done to all involved in this new event In full: Have to agree with everything the first reviewer has said. Eveyone associated with organising this event should be very proud, I cannot fault anything. Adequate loos, very efficient baggage tent, provison of marqueed changing area etc..it was all there. I have run many half marathons and many that have been established a considerable time could learn a lot from this race....extraordinary considering this was the very first one. I have to admit when entering I nearly had 2nd thoughts because of the price, but this is well worth it in the end the organisers really did ensure runners had all they needed. Finally a massive thank you to anyone who volunteered their time to support the race. No race can happen without a large numbers of volunteers and Ealing has delivered a fantastic event, well done! 2012 Mizuno Reading Half Marathon

In short: I think this is now my favourite half marathon In full: Second time I've run Reading and I have to say I'm surpised with some of the negative comment's I've seen. Firstly my Garmin measured this as 13.1 miles. It's the same course as it has been for several years. Garmins are not 100% accurate and you add a fair bit on to a distance if not running the racing line. I do not think there is anything wrong with the distance, many many people set PB's in this race! The atmosphere for this HM is the best i've come across. This is a large race and it only gets the amount of support it does from sepctators because of the numerous runners. Yes it means a busy and crowded start but that's what you get with big races....it's a breeze compared to the London marathon start for example and not many people complain there! If you don't want crowding I would suggest you pick a local, small HM but you won't get a 10th of the support/atmosphere you get in this race. For people commenting that the stadium finish was an anti-climax...for heaven's sake, what do you want, royalty to applaud you as you cross the finish line. I guess some people are just impossible to please. I've now run 15 half marathons and i think is my favourite of them all despite never having a great running performace here. I agree that perhaps the water should be given before the medal but that is the only minor criticism I have.
I'm also very sad to hear of the death of Ged Clarke, this is a very unfortunate and tragic event and my thoughts go to his family and friends. Unfortunately nothing is without risk in this world but I hope his family can take peace in the fact he died doing something he clearly loved and had so much passion for. Fortunately these instances are very rare but as the case with a professional footballer shows, instances of this nature can happen even if you are in optimum physical condition. In short: A great 20 mile race with fantastic marshalling In full: A lovely well organised local club race perfect for marathon training. It may be 4 laps but I found the lap interesting and varied with no long stretches so it's far from boring or repetitive. Well done for the organisation and support of the marshalls, I don't think i've ever seen so many marhsals for a local club event...you were all brilliant! Date of review: March 13, 2012

2012 Wymondham 20

In short: Superbly organised and marshalled local road race In full: My first time doing the Wymondham 20 and I was very impressed. Nice to have a clubhouse to shelter in before the race and very easy to pick up number and chip. The run itself was much flatter than I was expecting, even for Norfolk and this is definitely a quick course for 20 miles. The marshalling is some of the best I have come across, numerous in number and all giving fantastic support, a big thank you for so many of you giving up your Sunday to make such a successful race. Many thanks to Lucy and Kim (on the bike) who pulled me through the last 10 miles so that I ended up breaking my 3 hour target by a massive 16 minutes!! Those expecting goodies at the end may be disappointed but at £12 i don't know what you can expect, it's great value and perfect for spring marathon training. Will be back another year for this great local run Date of review: March 5, 2012

In short: Great race, get's better each year In full: Fantastically well supported race and the atmosphere this year was superb. The good weather obvioulsy brought out many people to come and watch. Completely disagree with those who say this is not a PB course. This is about as flat as you will get for 13 miles, there is one hill and that is a gentle incline long. I've run 11 half marathons and my quickest two times are around this (new) course Date of review: March 15, 2011

In short: A very pleasant well organised local half marathon In full: Based on other runner's comments it seems there were a lot of improvements from the previous year but I thought it was very well organised (weel done, David) and being able to enter on the day so easily and quickly was great for me personally. The half marathon had a very friendly feel to it and although not the most scenic of courses it was pleasant enough. There are no big hills but it is constantly undulating which means its hard to find a decent rhythm. However it doesn't mean fast times aren't obtainabale. Special thanks to the marshalls which were excellent. Numerous in numbber, well organised in the road-crossings and many of them showing great support and encouragement to all runners. I'll definitely be back to do this race again. Date of review: February 28, 2011

A lot of other races could do well to follow the exemplary organisation of Bedford Harriers. Well done to all involved in planning and helping out at this event! Date of review: December 12, 2010

In short: Absolutely fantastic 10K race. Well done Connac In full: I have to say this is one of the best 10K's I have done. Any race organised by a running club requires a lot of time to be volunteered and all those at CONNAC have done a fantastic job. Perfect organisation, great marshalling, good route with no overcrowding, great atmosphere with local support and a more than generous goody bag. Will definitely run this again and highly recommend to anyone. Date of review: April 14, 2009

2009 Berkhamsted Half-Marathon
 | | Overall score | | 80% | | Would you do it again? | | Yes | | | | Details: | | Scenery | | 100% | | PB potential | | 60% | | Atmosphere | | 80% | | Organisation | | 80% | | Value | | 80% | | Beginner-friendliness | | 80% |
In short: Very enjoyable race on a lovely Spring day In full: I really enjoyed this race and thought organisation was pretty good. Never been to Berkhamsted before but I found parking easy enough. Race pretty much started on time (can't believe someone moaned because of a 3 minute delay), marshalling very good and a nice smattering of friendly local support. Challenging course but plenty of downhill to recover from uphill climbs and still make good times possible. Personally I didn't run as well as I could so will be back another year to give this a better go. Date of review: March 2, 2009
