In short: These reviews are not exaggerating about the hills - this is 0% flat
In full: Did this instead of London this year and wow was it hard. Having said that I was only five mins off my time from last year's 'sorry no water' Edinburgh marathon.
Very well marshalled and great support. The traffic wasn't an issue at all, and the roads being open allowed my pals to follow me round and cheer from multiple stops.
One gripe was that the energy drinks were in cups, so you had to stop running to drink - although this was quite welcome towards the end.
I'd try an easier course if I was a beginner, but what a cracking alternative to the city runs.

In short: Baking hot. Started walking when they stopped giving out drinks.
In full: I did below 3.45 despite a walk and a wee, so I can't imagine how little there was to drink for those at the back. Really disppointing. Also my wife's bus from the start was so slow she missed me on the way out. Good support in places but long periods with no spectators - but then I'm used to the London and the Great North.
