In short: Very Hot, Very Hilly but Very worth doing! In full: Very 'undulating' course but definately worth doing -- majority of hills (lots of them) in woodland so fairly shaded - well marshalled and excellent post race care (considering 30deg!) Thank you - def do again --- T Shirt good 2 for a change!!
In short: Biggest challenge not slipping into canal after tripping over fishing rod! In full: Great fun - although flat was fairly tuff due to uneven rocky muddy towpath, up and over lock hills, loose dogs, fishing rods and the odd rambler! The only real hill at in the last 500m was - a killer! Looking forward to reverse in 2010 - down the hill at start! Date of review: November 8, 2009
In short: Excellent route - did not feel like 13.1 so much to look at! In full: A def do again for me - the hill was, long! and just as it got steeper & I started to run backwards got chased up the last part by a impatient Rolls Royce trying to get past!! Amazingly beautiful scenery, even the bits through the town! Final 500m not so good, enter the car park and collide with exiting finishers, familys, dogs wandering around and no clear direction which way should be heading - just followed those in front and hoped for best...! pleeeeeeese more toilets and preferably ones that do not smell rancid at 9am in the morning! excellent goody bag!
In short: Definately worth a re-visit! In full: Managed a pb on this course -- however, may I point out that it is most definately not FLAT! it may not be a Peak District of runs but it certainly had more than a few hills (including at the finish) -- well organised and will definately do again -- bus shuttles returning to parking areas bit of nitemare, ending up walking 3miles back to the Station - it was quicker! In short: I take it back, getting to Windsor (2hours) woz easy in comparison! In full: Where do I begin, the weather I guess, which was probably the best bit... left St Albans Thameslink (after 3 cancellations) at 7.15 - went thru Hendon only to reverse back to Hendon, then buses (or not) train to St Panc then tube (or not) forced to get off at Canada Water and get normal service buses (all 2000 runners!) buses full and refused to take us on board - police called... race delayed as result - got to O2 (after bus driver took wrong road) at 10.20, bag drop chaos, loos gud (no Q's) - to the pens -- chaos again... slow start and then actually quite a good course, but too many runners! I dont agree with organisers that it is a PB course - even in gud weather and where was all the music? which is one reason I entered! Lots of promotion but definately a let down.... Medal quite nice ! Never again!
In short: A well organised, scenic, off-road new season race. In full: 1st timer at this event - it was extremely well marshall'd and parking/toilets etc were excellent.. the hill at 9k is actually a Mountain... be warned, not for the faint hearted.. a good beginning season off road race. Definately worth doing. Date of review: September 14, 2008
In short: Personally I had a hideous race, slowest 10k ever, prob more due to running t my 1st 1 Marathon 3 weeks before.. however the late start time, heat, crowded start etc did not help.. prob give it a miss next year.. Date of review: May 5, 2008
