In short: Good run, could be better?
In full: Leeds next year for me, perhaps after a break from Sheffield I'll get past its shortcomings and appreciate the fabulous support and the city centre sections which are just amazing to run through.
Unfortunately at the moment the shortcomings slightly outweigh the positives. Toilets bad (again), Drinks stations clumsy and difficult (again), missing medal from goodie bag (again!)... What is the point of feedback when the organisers never take it on-board? My other half did Manchester marathon in 2012 and it got negative feedback from a lot of runners. In 2013 it was apparently 10 times better addressing those same issues raised by the runners. Sheffield has the potential to be brilliant but the organisers just trot the same every year knowing we'll pay up and turn up. And we do! I’d like to see what happens with the new venue, who knows maybe I’ll be back sooner than I think (cough cough choose two different dates Leeds and Sheffield hmmmm?)

In short: Brilliant, loved it!
In full: This was one of the best races I've done in a while. The bottle neck only served to stop me bat out of helling it out of the start (my usual sorry trick), there was plenty of water in bottles and the goodie bag was ace. Toilets were fine if you knew what you were doing (Women rejoice! I hardly even queued!)I was back on form for this one and will definitely back next year.

In short: I keep coming back, but there is definitely room for inprovement
In full: I like this run, the course is good and atmosphere is brilliant in parts. Ok, so Brightside is a bit dull but then again there are some rural races that are boring as bat droppings the WHOLE way round! However, after running the Leeds two weeks ago Sheffield has a lot to consider... Leeds was cheaper, with plenty of bottles of water on route, a goodie bag with a technical t-shirt, a chocolate bar and the option of water, juice or isotonic at the end. I don’t want to be in the position of saying Leeds is better than Sheffield!

I really pushed for my sub-2hrs this time, having had such a successful run a fortnight ago, only to miss it by seconds. Seconds probably taken up by stopping to queue for water, and then trying to throw it in the general vicinity of my face while running! Poor. I'd say I wasn't going to do it next year but obviously I will. These complaints come up year after year and the organisers don't seem to listen, not even as poor souls pass out at the side of the road - guess I need to start running with my own water. PS perhaps there wasn’t enough goodie bags as some of them didn’t contain medals. My other half had to go back to get another bag, and I overheard a lady (outside of the stadium) asking where folk had got their medals from…

In full: I love the Sheffield Half Marathon - this is my third year running. The route is brilliant, and the spectators in the stadium and on Eccleshall Road are wonderful. Two small gripes, sorry sorry. Toilets at the begining AGAIN, and the water stations. My partner missed his goal time by about 30 seconds and if the water stations weren't such a shambles I think he could well have got this. For such a good race to be let down by basics like this is a shame. And was that really an official photographers crouched by the 'water' stations?! Those shots are going to be just lovely! If Sheffield decide go head-to-head again with the Leeds half next year, I'll be heading over there.

In short: Not for the faint heart, queasy stomach or wobbly legs!
In full: I love this run! Third year of dragging myself up and down the hills and it's worth it. Nothing like the smell of horse manure to get you going!

In short: Come on...it was alright really!
In full: It's quite hard to be negative about something that was such a worthwhile experience as my first every marathon! The heat couldn't be helped, it's like that most years I believe? I preferred the flats costal towns to the hills of Edinbrugh City Centre and the there was plenty of support, water and (yuk yuk) lucozade. Admittedly, the organisation at the end was a quite lax, one of my supporters heard a staff member say into his walky talky that he had lost control of the crowd. How can you lose control of a crowd that can only just walk a few steps, really slowly and generally in the one direction! The shuttle buses were terrible, the less said the better about those. Overall, I had a great day - like I said my first marathon and I got 4hrs 19mins, which I am very proud (and quite overwhelmed) with! I don't know if I'll ever manage another event of this magnitude so this particular run will always be special for me!

In short: A good run out!
In full: Huddersfield sure do make good hills! A brilliant local run, much better than Meltham. Only problems would be I was bit boxed in at the begining and end which slowed me down. Also cars didn't seem to see the 600 people running on the roads... odd that! No doubt people will be ranting in the local news how they couldn't get for their bacon butty for an hour on Sunday morning! Thanks to the Kingston Runners man who raced me at the end! A good finish to a good run.

In short: Poor organisation lets down a fast run
In full: Well...I can't believe the lack of organisation! There were about 4 toilets and the queues were ridiculous, some people were waiting for ages whilst some just jumped into the loos that were overlooked as they were next to the mens urinals. It was a free-for-all! There was an overkill of barriers which, when combined with lots of people, just caused chaos - I couldn't get anywhere I needed to be! Also the information said town centre parking was free... the one we parked in wasn't! No worries, tho - it's to be expected in Leeds. I loved the run, flat and fast for a PB and my partner smashed his PB by about 5 minutes! I also loved the text telling me my time straight after the run - but my partner never recieved his? Perhaps it was because, on finishing the run, more chaos ensued as you tried to track down a bucket to put your chip in! If Help the Aged are considering a further 2,000 places next year they need to seriously look at on-the-day organisation. If it improves I'll certainly be there next year to get that pesky 48 seconds of my time!

In short: Undulating doesn't even begin to describe this incredibley hill run! !
In full: The hills just keep coming - as soon as you get to the top of one and see the descent you are staring right down the barrel of another humdinger. Fast finish, all down hill for about a mile. Careful at the end tho - starts on a hill, ends on a hill!
