In short: Very hard and totally worthwhile
In full: A true test. Foggy and wet conditions blanked out all the scenery but at least you couldn't see all the hills ahead of you. A tricky and muddy course in parts but far less damaging to the body than tarmac underfoot. The marshalling was superb at every stage and the encouragement from both spectators who braved the rain and all marshalls was great. Many thanks to all involved.

In short: Very tough - Great pre-Beachy Head marathon warm up
In full: Lovely scenery and imaginative course with a great mix of terrain. A tough start gets you up on the Downs immediately and the course is undulating with some draining uphills thrown in every few miles. It is tough underfoot in places but nice and dry this year. The last few miles are more gentle allowing for a pleasant wind down or a fast finish depending on your mood/fitness. On the negative, I thought the organisation was poor. We found the start over a mile from registration by luck and 3 pages of written directions, although detailed and accurate, are no substitute for a map after 15 miles of hard running. I don't mind paying an extra couple of quid for a few more marshalls in the middle stages of the run.

In short: Much more interesting course than expected
In full: Too hot at the start and hideous rain after an hour but more than offset by a friendly, well marshalled race and a pleasantly challenging course. A well thought out route which avoided most of the main roads but didn't squeeze the runners into bottlenecks. A few nice long inclines made for a challenging course if going for a PB but this is preferable to pounding dual carriage ways for 13 miles. Will come back next year.
