In short: Beginning and end were terrible, but the middle was great
In full: Start and finish were shambolic with ridiculous bottle necks which should have been obvious and avoided by the organisers. The finish bottle neck in particular was made much worse by an official just over the line making runners stop to remove their chips - when the people manning the chip removal benches further down weren't doing anything! atmosphere along the route was good, great bands and general support, and Canon Hill park was a nice bit of greenery. Kudos to the goody bag - Buttons and Caramel! - nice to see the local business reflected in it!

In short: PB potential, but very windy and really rather expensive
In full: Dorney lake, make no bones about it, is boring to run around, but it's pancake-flat so definitely PB material. The constant strong blustery winds, though, do oppose that slightly! The organisation was OK; although they had put the wrong start time (1300) on the website. Overall incredibly expensive, the goody bag contained only a copy of RW (which I already have, and I suspect a lot of people there did) and a Red Bull shot. The medal was nice, but I had to go back to get it as the finish funnel was non-existent and I missed it! Marshalls could have done with a shot of enthusiasm as well, the car parking wasn't signed - the marshall responsible wasn't actually directing cars, just watching them, so friends of ours went to the wrong end of the lake as they weren't aware of the new start spot.

Overall - fine to run around, but seriously Could Do Better from an organisational and value for money perspective.

In short: Challenging course and a bit crowded, but good run nonetheless
In full: The long uphills and muddy conditions underfoot made this race far more challenging than I remember it being last year. Very congested for the first couple of miles especially just after the start as the trails commenced - made worse by people pulling up suddenly to walk around the mud! Lovely weather and pleasant scenery. I didn't really fall foul of the "lack of loos" problem but can see this would have been a difficulty given the huge number of runners and small number of loos. Fizzy drinks at the end not the best plan either, best stick to flat drinks next time please!

In short: Flatish, nice run, good organisation
In full: Well organised and co-ordinated, traffic well-organised, and even a marching band near the start of lap 2 (see, there are benefits of being slower!). Few inclines here and there, wind was a bit tough but then you can't account for weather! Lovely atmosphere, nice day out for my family too.
