In short: Good potential, but needs work In full: Having read all the other reports so far nobody has yet mentioned first aid cover. I can only assume because they didn't actually need it. I needed to withdraw from the race at around the 12 mile mark, and wanted to find the first aid station but the marshals were unaware of where they would be. I finally waited over 40 minutes in the wind and rain for a car to pick me up and take me back to the stadium. By which time I was obviously almost hyperthermic but even so was just dropped off on the opposite side of the stadium to the baggage trucks and still couldn't find any help. I have never taken part in a race before with such disasterous first aid cover.
Having said that the marshals were good at supporting and warning of impending puddles etc. Date of review: May 1, 2012
In short: A great finish in the Stadium, pity about the chaotic start In full: A good event, marred by a chaotic start. Please sort it for next year or reduce the number of runners, impossible to get to white/green start. Fantastic support all around the course though, plenty of water stations and loos and a brilliant finish in the Stadium. Date of review: March 23, 2011
In short: Excellent marshalls around the course but not designed for slower runners In full: Great to have the start so close to the car park, but as with every other race never enough toilets! Pity there were no mars bars etc. left for the slower 20 mile runners and all the finish gantry and hoardings taken down by the time I had arrived back. Surley it could have remained for at least 4 hours especially as there were quite a few runners obviously using the race as a training run rather than a pure speed event. I bit expensive bearing in mind lack of goodie bag or t-shirt, medal ok but not very inspiring. Date of review: March 14, 2011
In short: A brilliant race, well organised with fantastic marshalls In full: My first time at Tunbridge Wells and was aprehensive about the hill I had heard all about -it totally lived up to expectations! but with every up there is a down and this meant I finished within my target time. Great to get my medal from Dame Kelly. Goody bag, medal and t-shirt excellent. Thanks to all the marshalls and supporters. Date of review: February 27, 2011
In short: A good race with a PB at the end but organisation could be better In full: Dont blame the runners for where they started. I am a 2hr30 half marathon runner and was put in the white start. Why? Was this because I am an affiliated club runner, I stated quite cleary in my application my estimated time and expected to be in the last pen as is usual for me. It puts a lot of pressure on me knowing there are 12000 runners behind me, many of which will be frustrated by my pace. Please, organisers, use estimated times when allocating start pens.
Finish a disaster! over 25 minutes from finish line to leaving the medal/goodie bag funnel, and I didn't even see any blankets so got very cold.
No where near enough toilets in the runners village, or maybe there were but they were too well hidden.
Why were the no MP3 rules not envoked? What is the point of a rule if you are not going to uphold it?
Good crowd support and marshalls around the course, nice medal and T Shirt and always pleased to get a PB! :-) Date of review: March 8, 2010
