In short: A truely great race ... and not as hard as you might think!
In full: This was my 3rd Half Marathon in the last 4 Sundays and I was worried it may finish me off! Yes, it's hilly, but it's not as hard as I thought it would be. I was looking to finish in 2 hours and did it in 1:48. Great Marshalling and fantastic organisation - and very cheap to enter! The Course has the massive advantage of being traffic free, and again, it's for a fairly small field - around 300 runners - (which I prefer). My only (small) gripe would be the cups! I'm a big fan of Bottles and would rather pay a quid more to get them! But out of the last 20 Half Marathons I've done probably 15 gave out water in cups so this race was not alone by any means. All in all, I enjoyed this race more than I thought I would and it's on my Calendar for ever now! Ade.

In short: I got a PB .... or did I...?
In full: Nearly everything about this race was spot on for me. Great weather. Great Course. However, my Garmin said the Course was 12.5 miles! I notice a previous reviewer also said the Course fell short of the Half Marathon distance and most reviewers so far said they got a PB too! I've only run twice since the Malvern Half two weeks ago and I didn't think I had a PB in me today! Anybody else agree?! I'll be back next year though!

In short: Ticks all the boxes for me!!!
In full: I've run quite a few Half-Marathons now, so when I look for future races I look for one that's a bit different, that I haven't run before, that has a smaller sized field, that's got a bit of everything (road, field, track etc) and the Shifnal Half ticked all the boxes for me! Pretty much faultless organisation, loads of water stations, decent medal, fruit and water at the finish and good support. And Bryan from http://www.racephotos.org.uk who takes your picture and sends it to you FOR FREE!

I ran with an injury to both legs - I really shouldn't have gone through with it - but I'll be back next year "pain free".

In short: My Favourite Course
In full: Everything about this race is spot on. The course is great (almost flat) and the organisation is superb. There's loads of nearby parking and the Three Counties Showground is simply an ideal location to begin and end the race. There's LOADS of space for runners and their families to wonder around and there's always lots to do. I've got my two fastest ever times for a half-marathon on this coure and I love it! I'll be back again next year.

In short: Just Great!
In full: A very well organised race. A big "thank you" to all the Marshalls who must have got absolutely soaked whilst setting things up. Rain stopped half an hour before the start to be replaced with bright sunshine - perfect! There's a few hills but nothing too hard and there's PB potential...just! Cheap entry fee too! Just over 500 runners so not too crowded and there were plenty of things for the kids to do while they waited for Daddy...! Oh, and I managed to finish, warm down and make it to the Cafe for a hot Latte before the Heavens opened again...! Will be back next year.

In short: A great course well marshalled!
In full: OK, the start was a shambles. The boards with times written on them (at the start) MEAN something. I had "runners" in front of me at the start that were hardly moving. I wasted a lot of energy in the first mile dodging slower runners. It was also far too narrow! That said, the rest of the race was great. Only a couple of slopes - nothing too testing - a good first race back (for me) after injury! Thought the choice of t-shirt or medal at the end was a bit odd - with a 25 year celebration why not both? My biggest wish now is that the poor chap who collapsed at the end is ok now - he did not look good. If anybody knows how he is can they please post a message here?

In short: How Hot???!
In full: I swore after Tewkesbury that I would never run in that kind of heat again! I think this was even hotter? Everything about the organisation was spot on, although the start was a bit farcical (I was walking up a hill when I suddenly heard a whistle and everyone started running!). The medal was a good one and the goodie bag was the best I have ever had at a Half Marathon. £5 bought me a massage afterwards! The chap with the hosepipe at 7 miles was appreciated by all! As was the kind lady at the end who tipped a jug of water over by head :-) I will be back again next year!

In short: Nice route. A little traffic but no issues - very well Marshalled.
In full: Had a great run - smashed my PB by 11 minutes!!! One SMALL gripe - water stations gave out water in cups as opposed to bottles. I can see why this was done - plastic cups full of "free" water cost a lot lot less than bottles (and this race was to raise money for a very very good Charity), but I would rather pay a few quid extra to run and get a bottle! You cannot run with a cup of water ... try it!!!! On the whole, a brilliant day!
