In short: Sponsored by Jelly Baby!
In full: Brilliantly organised race and when the starter said that every marshall would have jelly babies he wasn't fibbing! The marshalls were fantastic and the day made all the better with a PB. A special thank you to the chap on the bike who stopped for a chat at 12miles and to hand out yet more jelly babies! I can imagine this is a little too fast for beginners to half marathons but it is a fantastic race and I will be back again. Water stations were about 1 mile more than stated in the pre-race blurb but other than that a fab day. Thank you to Dumries Running Club.

In short: Marshalls made the race! Brilliant!
In full: Brilliantly well organised race. Marshalls were very helpful every step of the way a brought along their support too... Even in the rain! Soaked through but a great run. Very clubby but friendly crowd... Defo recommend!

In short: MUD MUD MUD.. but FUN FUN.... aches!
In full: Highly amusing ankle deep in mud by the start line! Done this before and will do it again... well organised, trail shoes a must and no matter how many times I do this I still don't learn about the terrible hills from Esholt to the finish!

In short: HOT HOT HOT... too many folks now but doing it for so many special reasons, love it but think 540000 runners is enough!
In full: It really is one of my favourites due to the atmosphere all the way round and getting to the start early is a must not just for the loo but the fun pre-race banter. I honestly think Great Run Org need to think about the number of people now... the roads at points just can't handle the bottle necks which means PB's are really not possible. Then again, if you're running it for a PB you're probably getting the whole ethos of this race wrong. It's emotional to see all the special reasons people run, walk, waddle, push their way around the course. A brilliant day, I'm hoping the sunburn will fade quicker than the memories!

In short: Water Stations a let down.
In full: I totally agree with many people. There are ratings that could have been copied and paste into this year. Water stations were a total let down for someone who is a very steady runner - it is those at the back who need it most and I was forced to hang on to a bottle on kirkstall road in the heat worrying that other water stations had run out. The run down to horsforth woodside should have had the trees/bushes managed and path was a bit muddy in parts.
That said there is something about this race that I would return for - I got a PB! I'd like to find out if I can do it again.

In short: 'Mile' markers dubious especially 1&5, good off road race.
In full: Bit narrow for everyone 100m into the race. If I did the first mile as quickly as it seemed I'm better than I thought... then it took forever to do the 2nd mile! Well organised, drinks station could have done to be a little later & mile markers were a bit off putting. Managed a PB though and enjoyed the race overall.
