In short: After 5k 'The Hille are alive with the Sounds of my footsteps' In full: No chip timing but you'll only lose about 10-15 seconds at start. Course stsrts of flat and some downhill parts but other runners tell you to get ready for 'The Hills' after 5k (just before water station).....and were they right. Course kept you busy especially minor detour cross country at 7.5k for about 500 meters. Undulating after 5k and not boring and plenty of marshalls to give you support. Nice medal at end also fruit and water. Small charge for Tea/coffee with a cake but all proceeds to charity. Changing and shower facilities and baggage drop off with time keeping staff
In all well organised race and plenty of Marshalls along the course may do again once I have put some hill training in as had to walk Hills a few times Date of review: May 19, 2015
In short: The Grinch enjoyed it In full: I ran the first Birmingam Half marathon and done all 7 of them ever since. Just like the first Birmingham Half it had it's problems but got better and l know this race had a few problems but I still enjoyed this 10k and it was me dressed as the Grinch. This 10k is great for beginners as they offey you the choice to run or walk. Will be back again as good value for money great organisation and thank you to all supporters, runners, freefm and marshalls who helped me get round. See you in 2016 Date of review: May 4, 2015
In short: Great race to get you into running In full: This was my first race of 2 10k's running weekend. This and other 10k at Regents Park really enjoyed Free use of changing room and shower at swimming centre. 3 lap course do at own pace and you know where you are going so if slow runner you still know where you are going. Got a Gold medal this time and great goody bag. See you at the June event :-) Date of review: April 12, 2015
In short: I Did it - My 2nd 10k race over Easter Weekend In full: Course-Flat and 3 laps so you can relax and know what to do for each lap and great course for beginners. Organisation - Excellent 10 out of 10 and excellent value and can see how great this race would be in the summer as can relax at the Hub and in the Park after the race Changing at the Hub - Warm shower after and Bagging drop area Would do again next time in London and wish they had this race series in the West Midlands/Birmingham
In short: Great Race If 1500 people going to run a 10k on a cold morning in November In full: Been running since 1989 and don't say this about many races but this is a great race, friendly organisers & marshalling (to pick out a few marshalls the dancing lady and the American gentleman) and support (especially the hill at 4k/9k).
Even though support small they still brought the spirit of the London Marathon to the race.
Great for first timers and fun runners and friendly atmosphere for any type of runner.
Headband you are given a start of race, great fun warm up, unique medal at end and race for a good cause (Prostrate Cancer.
2 lap course a couple of hills but at least you know what to expect second time around. The crowd on the last hill towards finish amazing and get you up that hill
In short: I am sure this race longer than a 10k In full: Don't normally do 10k's as a half marathon runner but as visiting family in London thought I'd enter the race
Race is very good for beginners but I am not sure if distance correct as 'Runkeeper'on phone told me it was 10.5k and Marshall told me that I was at 9.3 on final lap and was well on course to break 50 or even 49 minutes. No chip timing but ok for the price as at least you get a medal, t-shirt, canvas bag and juice drink at finish. Very friendly atmosphere amongst runners
May do another race in the series Date of review: May 4, 2014
In short: Birmingham the 6th In full: Great Organisation, Great Crowd and Support at start and on course and at end. Good value for what you get. Will do it again as done previous 6. Hill at 11 miles really tough and but I say leave it in as gives us all something to moan about. Well done Birmingham and West Midlands you'll be challenging Great North in several years for half marathon title Date of review: October 23, 2013
In short: Wolverhampton the 6th In full: Enjoyed race took time off from last year but running since 2008. I started 3 minutes late but personally, I enjoyed the twists and turns as gave me that push every now and again and got me a PB on the course. Thanks again to the organisers, volunteer marshalls, fellow runners, supporters, banks beer bike and the Asian ladies who were giving away free orange juice and bottled water out of their own expense from their house. Will be back next year Date of review: September 7, 2013
In short: Comments for 2012 Race - 5th Time ran event and will be back in 2013 In full: This was my 111th half and for any first timers who are thinking about doing a half marathon get yourself out there as value for money with a unique medal and great goody bag.
Enjoyable race and got under my target of 2 hours but for all those who just got around Well Done!. Tough Hill at 10 and a half miles but knew it was coming so saved my energy.
Organisation, Marshalls, First Aiders and crowd support excellent as per usual. Please Please Please can we just have smaller bottles of Powerade as easier to carry and not wasted.
All in all excellent race and I'll be back.
Message for Sharon runner 8875 you got under 2 hours I bet your pleased!
My condolescence also go out to for the runner who died at the end to his family and friends
In short: Happy Birthday to me, Happy Birthday to me, my legs are feeling tired In full: Thank you, thank you and thank you again to all the marshalls, supporters and runners on the day for getting me around. Felt good up to 7 miles then things started to get tough for me the last 6 and struggled the last 2 miles. No fault of the course just night before caught up with (camping, 6 mile walk and stomach problems not good preparation for a race). It was my birthday and also my 108th half so will put this in my top 10 for it's organisation, unique medal, value for money, chip timing on race number and not having to tie on to your trainers, challenging and mostly traffic free scenic course, loads of fruit bars, water and loads of bananas. Great marshalling and Organisation and support from all including those running the race. The course not as hilly as I expected and I will be back if anything and I'll stay in a Bed and Breakfast and enjoy the day even more and beat my time which I know I was capable of doing Thanks again from 'Yannon's Dad' See you in 2012 Date of review: May 31, 2011
