In short: An enjoyable 10K in a lovely part of the UK. In full: This year everyone had to pick up their race numbers on the day - something to do with the postal strikes? Heanor is surrounded by some lovely countryside and is well worth a Sunday drive out. No problems with parking - I got there early to be sure of getting a spot. I think some latecomers had to park on the industrial estate. Quite a challenging 10K with several hills thrown in. Part of the race is on a main road and I had to take care when overtaking. The drinks station was at 6km and I think some runners would have appreciated it being a bit sooner. Also the final hill catches some people out. Very pleased with my PB and glad I made the effort to come this morning. I am now off to enjoy my Christmas pudding! Date of review: November 15, 2009

In short: an exhilarating run In full: A brilliant setting for a half-marathon. However Eyam is a small village and parking can be quite tight.
Quite a challenging event. I felt a sense of achievement on finishing this. Heavy rain up on the hills. I was like a drowned rat by the time I finished (very appropriate for Eyam).
A very steep hill at 9 miles. At that stage I found it was more efficient to walk up it than try to run. If I do this again, I'm going to put in a lot more hill work in the gym. Date of review: May 19, 2009

In short: An average race In full: Carparking was fine with ample spaces. The lousy weather spoilt it a bit for me, as I don't enjoy running in wind and rain. Also I found the course a bit monotonous. There were no real ups and downs to make it more interesting. In addition a bit more encouragement from the marshalls would have been nice. On the plus side it was really nice of local people to hand out drinks. Date of review: March 8, 2009

In short: An enjoyable and friendly event In full: It was very enjoyable to do some competitive running after all the snow! The information about parking was useful, as I used a town centre car park which was cheaper than the international centre. Muddy in parts, so more like trail running. A few small hills, which were quite challenging. Great marshalls, but could have done with more mile markers. I liked the finish and especially the soup afterwards. Date of review: February 15, 2009

In short: A well organised race in the Derbyshire countryside. In full: No problems at all with car parking, although I did get there quite early. Very well organised by the marshals. The large number of entrants (750) made for a good atmosphere. A good mix of scenery, both urban and rural. A few hills, so I had to pace myself a bit. A personal best too. Very pleased. In short: A great way to spend a Sunday morning. In full: A lovely setting for a race. I can't think of a better way to spend a Sunday morning. No problems at all with parking. It felt very inclusive, with earlier races for children and a 5K race. Didn't hear the starting pistol at all! This was my first 10K and it felt great to be running with other people. A very warm day, 24 degrees, but it didn't bother me too much. Quite undulating, with not too many steep sections. Liked the lap of the cricket field at the end. I have now got the bug and want to do more! Date of review: June 9, 2008
