In short: Excellent In full: I've done a lot of 20 mile races over recent years and this was a good one. Parking and directions etc to HQ were easy to follow, no fuss picking up number, reasonable toilet queues (and for proper loos!). The race briefing was great and helped everyone relax a bit. The marshals on the course were lovely and so smiley (they must have been freezing out in the rain for hours). A great course, nice countryside scenery, a few inclines but no really significant hills. I have enough t shirts / medals etc so a water bottle was a nice touch and something different that I may actually use. Well done WAC I will definitely consider this again for a spring marathon training run. Date of review: March 6, 2012

In short: Excellent In full: I did this race in 2009 and this year came back for more.
It was and is still a fantastic race, and the marshals were great. They deserve a mention.
Otherwise pretty much what everyone else has said. Lovely course, great facilities, better parking this time round and good momentos.

In short: Brilliant as always In full: Although this is a tough race, you should do it as a training run for a spring Marathon. It is "tough but doable". Great for a nice time-on-feet LSR
The organization is good, the scenery is fabulous and the marshals and water station helpers are great.
This was my 2nd time and just a beautiful as I remember. How often do you get to run through scenery like this?
Lots of mud this year, different from 2009 when it was bone dry. I've got through both times in road shoes but granted I'm not going at speed!

In short: Excellent In full: I echo everyone else's comments - my second year running this and a big PB. So well organized, some lovely touches with the markers, decorations in the hall, sweeties in the goody bag and great enthusiastic marshalls. I'd come back even if not training for a spring marathon! In short: Excellent fast race but a couple of improvements In full: I echo everyone else's comments about the course and the marshalls, and overall this was an excellent race. Just a couple of grumbles
1. I specifically asked about water and was told "The water stations are, approximately, at 1.6, 4.9, 8.4 and 10.2 miles". I was planning to take a bottle at 1.6 and no one was offering any although bottles were there. Not a disaster but it did mess up my plan.
2. PLEASE if you are going to "ban" Ipod wearers, ENFORCE it - fed up with people tottering out in front of me in their own world. Disqualify them.
3. I got my t-shirt but I can see how people could walk straight past, better signs next time?
I hope these comments provide constructive feedback, it was an excellent race and so happy with a massive PB. Well done GBRC Date of review: February 10, 2010

In short: Brilliant In full: Perfect distance for marathon training schedules, I was very impressed by the organization of the event from when we turned off the A1 right through the race and to the end and facilities afterwards. The marshalls were friendly and encouraging and did their jobs really well . The encouragement was needed, as whilst it's not as bad as say, the Stamford 30k, those hills ARE challenging and especially on the second lap. The race is a credit to Yaxley Running Club and I would go back and do this race for fun even if I wasn't training for an event. Date of review: January 24, 2010

In short: A great little race In full: Even though personally I had a bad run, I will be back as I really enjoyed it.
I think this course is more challenging than it looks. A great run out after Xmas, friendly supportive marshalls and good organization (loved the momento too)

In short: Nice 10k to end the year In full: First time I've done this one, it was VERY cold at the start, and then someone decided to start the fun run which was supposed to go off afterwards. Brrr! Never mind soon thawed out. Nice countryside, but no different to all the other pretty countryside I've run round really (well sorry..). Seemed well organized, nice T-shirt at the end. Quite a quick course, some inclines but probably one of the flatter 10k races I've ever done. An indication of alternative parking in the pre-race info might be a good idea as the school car park and surrounding roads were pretty much full by 10. A good race. Date of review: December 27, 2008

In short: Brilliant In full: Nice course, excellent organization, lovely atmosphere. First time I've got round to doing this race but it will definitely be pencilled in for next year... and a pudding! What more could you want? Date of review: December 14, 2008

In short: Good but some improvements needed In full: Love the course, love the atmosphere and love Portsmouth. This year the number allocations seemed random, didn't matter too much to the likes of me but not fair on the much quicker runners to be held up. I just went and stood in the zone I thought I should be in, no-one cared and I knew I wasn't going to hold anyone up. The parking on the common is still a joke, with comments in the magazine like "we have listened to feedback from last year", they put some people in reflective jackets in the car park who didn't seem to actually do anything in terms of traffic control and just stood there smoking cigarettes and chatting each other up - ironically it took me much much longer to get off the common than it did to run the 10 miles....! ;-) Could have done with a bit more than a bag of dried apple in the goody bag to sustain me during the 3 hours it took to get out of Pompey - yes I could have parked somewhere else, for an easier getaway but this was where the official signs lead to. I love this race, but am debating if I should do a more local race on the same day next year instead. Date of review: November 5, 2008
