In short: Well organised and perfectly flat In full: Not sure where the previous runner was running but Wimbledon common is practically flat hence a fast course. A great run organised by Wimbledon Windmilers, no frills but a great morning out. Date of review: September 22, 2012

In short: Well done Handy Cross Runners! In full: Lots of great things about this race, the course is excellent, the big climb at the start does make you work but after that it's more flat then down or up, vocal support along the course keeps you going along with the great marshalls and volunteers at the water stations the finish was good nice and wide lots of supporters out, nice goody bag, great medal and nice t-shirt (over advertised on the back for my liking), results were up by the time i'd finish and the weather held which is a bonus. Well done again to everyone involved. Date of review: July 17, 2012

In short: Muddy hills galore In full: Loved every dirty muddy slippy mile, you can't change the weather only deal with it as best you can (note to self trails mean trail shoes lol!!!). Marshalls out there were fantastic really surportive and an amazing job in awful conditions. Hope to be back next year,on a dryer course, thanks to everyone involved. Date of review: May 6, 2012

In full: Surprising that this event is only in year 2? It's that good, everything went like clockwork (aside from my race) from start to finish, the support on the course was excellent, many thanks to everyone for their support and encouragement it really helped (although there are some lonely stretches, harder then I imagined but well worth running, well done to the organiser, volunteers, running clubs, cadets and everyone else who made this such a great event. In short: Great race!!! In full: Well done to the organiser, marshalls, and supporters out on the course. I did the 1/2 a few years back but forgot how early they came, although I hate hills I found the 1st half easier then the 2nd which was pancake flat, shame it was so windy around the lake (which seemed endless) loved the atmosphere running into the race village, great medal drinks and chocolate although a banana would have been heaven. Anyway no aches and pains this morning which surprised me and great memories. Date of review: September 12, 2011

In short: A tough but worthwhile half In full: Harder going then I expected and the 2 laps really push you, but at least you know what to expect, actually enjoy the finish, nice finally being able to see the finish, well organised and thank you to the marshalls for being out there on a miserable morning. Well done BJ. Date of review: August 29, 2011

In short: It's really no Picnic!!! In full: Loved every minute of this mad race, completely different to anything i'd done in the past, great organisation and the best marshall's i've ever experienced, so vocal, surportive and encouraging. This race is as tough as advertised (and rightly so), the steps are probably the hardest part of the race (or they were for me) but the sense of achievement as you climb the last step is immense. Congratulations to everyone who took part and may see some of you next year! Date of review: June 21, 2011

2011 The London Ultra 50K

In short: My 1st Ultra!!! In full: Was really looking forward to my 1st Ultra and to be fair I wasn't very dissapointed, the organisers were friendly and informative, the marshalls at the checkpoints were enthusiatic and encouraging especially towards the end, the route was hard and probably hillier then i'd expected but manageable. The route was obviously well worked out, although through the parks towards the end it would have been nicer to have some additional signs, I and a couple of guys got lost twice due to missing the sign which is very easily done, but overall I enjoyed it.
The only negatives were the lack of proper changing facilities (toilets do not count) and the number pick up at the expo, this I felt was a waste of time as the number and map could have been posted which would have saved me a few hours in travelling, much worse for those travelling from outside London, aside from these points I actually had a great day, met some great people and enjoyed the atmosphere amongst the runners.
Thanks again to Jen and Rory and all the other organisers and volunteers who helped make this a great event. Date of review: February 25, 2011
