In full: Last year, I really enjoyed this race (even with an injury), but this time round it was such a anti-climax?
The start was very congested and quite frustrating at times. Soon as you left the running track and hit the road it started to ease off, which was good.
Water should of been a little sooner. Expecting it at 5km (like normal 10k) and then finding it at approx 6.5km is not good. Why so late in the race? Probably because it's closer to the start/finish I presume.
Apart from the around the stadium, the atmosphere was a little weak. Some marshals did their best, but apart from that the odd one or two people really did make this.
And what has happened to the goodie bag? I was promised an excellent good bag over the tannoy, so when I opened it to find a t-shirt and a penguin bar. Oh and a pen!!! Compared to last years goodie bag this is pants.
The price of the run increased a lot since last year, but it seems like the amount spent into it has reduced. It seems like big organisations fleece runners to make a big profit. Look at Great Run....looks like Sports Tours are the same. Date of review: July 5, 2009
In short: A well organised race, but I am sure my finishing time was wrong!!! In full: Straight from the beginning it was clear that a lot of through went into the event. It was so well organised and I really enjoyed it.
The only gripe I have is with the race times. I didn't expect to get a PB, because I currently have an injury however according to the results I was a lot slower than I thought I was. My gun and chip time were the same, however I was no where near the front when it went off. My watch says I was about 1.5 minutes faster than what my official time was!!!
I would definitely do it again, as I really enjoyed it. Far better than Great Manchester Run
Oh, did I miss something? Why did some runners leave with two goodie bags while some left with one? Date of review: July 6, 2008
In short: 10k? In full: Have to agree with the rest of the reviews. This wasn't and didn't feel like 10k. I was preparing myself to go round the car park again because it felt so short. A bit disappointed because I was on track to do a PB aswell!!!
For what you pay, it's steep. Just a medal. Where was the goody bag? Date of review: May 25, 2008
In short: Poorly organised and Crammed sums it up In full: Why do so many people have to go at the same time? Other Great Run events have a tiered wave system, why not Great Manchester?
I spent the majority of the race dodging people that I was unable to concentrate on the race. It wasn't until around the 7k mark that I actually felt I could get a stride without the fear of banging into someone. Date of review: May 23, 2008
