In short: Fast race with great PB potential In full: First mile was very fast and people were eager to get to the front because of the short distance. Not keen on being pushed in the back as we started off! Hill at 1-2 mile tough if you're going for a fast finish time but the downhill makes up for that.
Well organised race and nice to get a medal for this kind of mileage. Also nice to have your name shouted out as you come through the finish. Date of review: July 12, 2009
In short: Excellent race, challenging in places In full: A Fantastic race and well supported by all the locals. The unofficial water stations and ice pops & hose pipes were welcomed on a hot day. Two major hills to contend with however i found the rest of the course relatively flat. Depends upon what kind of training you are used to. There is PB potential. I received a PB and a bronze. This was the best race i have competed in so far and i'll deffo be back next year.
Medals are a great incentive - i loved this! Date of review: June 16, 2009
In short: Tough and hilly but well worth the challenge In full: This was my first time for this race and i was aware that there were some tough hills on route prior to the race. Despite this, the route was scenic and the cold and foggy weather just made the atmosphere even better. It was well marshalled and even though it was tough, i got a PB. I proudly hold my pudding in the air knowing i'll be back again next year! Date of review: December 2, 2008
In short: A very challeging race In full: Organisation was very low key, nothing like the Race For Life events. The course was described as flat with one hill which it most certainly wasn't. It was a challenging cross country run with plenty of hills and although i've done 10k's before, this was a killer, particularly on a hot day. Water station was not at 5k as described and was rubbish and congested. The scenery was beautiful but your lungs certainly paid for it! Beware first timers!!! Date of review: September 21, 2008
In short: Fast and Flat with a killer hill at the end! In full: A good and well organised event. Quite prices but the goody bag was worth it. Not very scenic and basically a run up the dual carriageway and back but nice running through Hillborough and loved the bands playing. Seemed to lack supporters along the way but was overall a good race and the run through shower was great. Bottles of water handed out were too big and very wasteful, but would recommend this race even as a 1st 10k Date of review: September 12, 2008
In short: Challenging Race with hilly start In full: 2 laps and a bit extra on the end. Hilly start and undulating in places although still suitable for a novice runner. It's a great challenge and a nice medal at the end! Date of review: July 17, 2008
