In short: Nice location. The first green lungs of London going South East In full: Comments from previous years are still relevant, and have not been addressed by the organisers, and wont be!
It's completely unacceptable not to record and finishing position and a time.
Further, it wouldn't harm some of the marshalls to encourage the runners and smile occasionally.
Oh and the T-shirts ran out well before the end! Date of review: September 23, 2012

In short: Well done, Orpies! In full: Good call, cutting out the crossing of Shire Lane into High Elms.
The loss of High Elms was made up for by the pleasant paths and trails around Farnborough, so it took nothing away, and permitted the boy racers to go about their usual Sunday business of ripping up the local roads, so a win-win situation.
Looks like there were lots of kids enjoying their races as well in the carnival atmosphere later on. Date of review: June 24, 2012

2012 Tunbridge Wells Half Marathon

In short: Always a good start to the running year In full: I always enjoy this race, being my 6th time in the last 10 years.
One further comment on those goody bags. I was 1,814th to finish, and there was no bag available. The organisers say there were 2,200 bags made up. That's at least 386 taken by earlier finishers in addition to the first bag they took. How greedy is that?!
And to the reviewer who said just below that goody bags do not matter, it DOES when the only water available is in it! WE were gasping for water after over two hours out on that course on a warm day.
I am certain though that the organisers will rectify the situation next year. It is the selfish runners who grab everything in sight who should be ashamed. Date of review: March 2, 2012

In short: Nice one In full: Tenth consecutive Taddy Ten and always a great opener to the New Year! Even the eccentric choice of memento cannot take the shine away. Excellent stuff Taddies! Date of review: January 2, 2012

In short: Nice morning out In full: a nice mix of experienced and not so experienced runners.
Expensive entrance fee which is only justified if you get a pb which is quite possible on this flat course.
Most runners seemed to enjoy it apart from some of the faster runners, some of whom were inconvenienced not a little by no segregation between them and the slower runners who were spread right across the path on the third lap at 7k and the finish necessitating them running on the grass verge.
Weather held and the sun shone which made for a pleasant morning. Date of review: August 21, 2011

In short: Nice family festival of running In full: Well organised event again by the Orpies. Given the crossing of the A21 and also Shire Lane twice, it took a lot of marshals to police the 10 k event and put up with the usual impatient motorists but they were all encouraging and friendly.
This is a tough 10k without the midsummer midday heat so the organisers might consider bringing it forward by an hour or so in future.
Loved the children's events and location on a schools field.
Well done ORR. Date of review: July 3, 2011

2011 Hastings Lions Half-Marathon
 | | Overall score | | 80% | | Would you do it again? | | Yes | | | | Details: | | Scenery | | 60% | | PB potential | | 60% | | Atmosphere | | 100% | | Organisation | | 80% | | Value | | 60% | | Beginner-friendliness | | 60% |
In short: Nice seaside race In full: The usual very well organised race by the Hastings Lions. Congratulations on a job well done!
One item that could be improved though is the finishing time markings for the starting pens, which were not very easily identifiable, and we had a lot of very slow runners and walkers in the first mile well to the front, and getting in the way, as well as an army troope running slowly with a bed, holding up the faster runners.
These people really should not be where they were. Date of review: March 20, 2011

In short: Always a good start to the running year In full: I've commented elsewhere on what appears to be an orchestrated campaign to interfere with the race by others.
But that aside, the usual excellent organisation by the club and long may the Taddy Ten remain where it is. Date of review: January 2, 2011

In full: I come back for this most years, as it is one of the premier races in the county, and has a long tradition of welcoming old and new runners alike.
Value is good, the Harriers are always inventive about the medal or T on offer, and it is very well organised each and every year.
I shall be coming back. Date of review: October 17, 2010

2010 Brooks Hove Prom 10K
 | | Overall score | | 60% | | Would you do it again? | | Maybe | | | | Details: | | Scenery | | 60% | | PB potential | | 80% | | Atmosphere | | 60% | | Organisation | | 80% | | Value | | 60% | | Beginner-friendliness | | 60% |
In short: Ok for locals who want a quick time In full: The problem was that I did a 100 miles round trip in an attempt to do a pb (flat and fast course), but was thwarted by that Eastbound gale on the prom after the turnround each lap.
Modest cost, but half a stick of rock at the end did not "do it" for me.
Marshalling was pretty good though with some enthusiastic marshalls, and would return, if I was local, next year and hope the wind subsides to have another crack at a pb.
