In short: Rain, pain, mud and puddles In full: First trail marathon and I guess the conditions were prefect for trail running with the strong wind, rain and muddy surface. Definitely one to pace yourself on as I was destroyed for the last 6 miles carrying half of Wiltshire around with me in my trail shoes.... Would have marked the scenery higher, but it was diffult to see much when it started in the rain and by the time the rain eased I couldn't see much past my own two feet exerting every effort just to stay upright. Would have been nice for someone to switch the boiler on for hot showers at the end (I was one of the first in and it was cold from the off - not just for the later finishers) Date of review: October 4, 2010

In short: Simply the best In full: Organisational triumph for the Stragglers; this is a must do event if you can get 10 others to form a team. Unbelievable that there are so many glorious off-road tracks so close to central London through magnificent countryside. Inter-club cameraderie is fantastic - an event not to be missed! In short: Very tough hills! In full: Having done a number of London / West London half marathons, this makes their London counterparts seem a breeze. The hills are relentless and steep so anyone going for a PB should not consider this one. However this is well advertised so the difficulty level shouldn't come as a surprise. The race is very well organised and value for money given the quality of the goody bag at the finish. Only improvement i would recommend is to have a timer at the finish so you can see your time as you finish. Date of review: September 22, 2008
