In short: Magic! In full: The spectators made it for me...a magnificent event in all respects. God bless the man handing out jaffa cakes somewhere around mile 18! An unforgettable day, I loved every minute of it, despite being a marathon "Virgin"! Date of review: April 24, 2012

In short: Slick organisation, good flat course, cracking medal! In full: This was my first half marathon and I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it! Registration was quick and efficient. Parking was almost shambolic - there seemed to only be one chap directing cars and he was a bit overwhelmed - more staff needed for this next time! Massive crowd support at the start, this had thinned out a bit by the time I finished but was still very vocal. Not much support on the way round, though the water-stop marshalls were very good. Traffic-free course was great, although there was a bit of pedestrian/dog/pushchair/bike dodging to be done! Near perfect weather (chilly and overcast) however the sea breeze, refreshing at first, soon felt relentless. Quality medal made up for duff goody bag. And to top it all, finished 7 minutes quicker than anticipated! Date of review: February 27, 2012

In short: Tough trail race on a glorious day In full: Tough going for a first trail attempt - especially the stile and the hill at the end! And it was more than 10k cos you pass the 10k marker about 2 mins before the finish! Seemed to be well run by the Rotary, but I didnt see a water station and there were no t-shirts left at the end, which was disappointing. I said "never again" as I collapsed over the finish line but hey you never know! Date of review: October 18, 2010

In short: Stunning run with fantastic support en route In full: Great scenic run, with 1 horrible climb that reduced most to a walk, and the rain 7 miles in was a welcome relief! Support from locals en route was superb, and there were plenty of marshalls. Registration was a bit of a shambles, still in the queue at 9.50am for a 10am start (did they not realise 600 people were all going to turn up at 9am?) and there were no t-shirts left. Apart from that, a great run for a very worthy cause. And where else can you get a 9.5 mile PB? Date of review: July 20, 2010

In short: Superb, scenic, friendly, exhilarating: what more do you want? In full: Fantastic race in great weather - surely this is the most scenic 10k in the country? Quite hilly, and the traffic can be a pain, but this is more than outweighed by the surroundings! And I EVEN managed a PB! *PLEASE SUPPORT THIS LOCAL EVENT!* Date of review: April 19, 2010

In short: Great atmosphere, lovely course, glorious weather! In full: Nice flat 2 lap course. Marshalls shouting encouragement at every turn! Very pleasant park to run around. Drove from Kendal to do it - only my 3rd ever race - and will definitely do again next year (can we have the same weather please!!) Date of review: March 7, 2010
