In short: A mix of good and bad In full: A good point was the lovely run itself. The scenery was nice and the support from the villages was welomed. I also liked that we got bottles of water and not cups- they were welcome on a warm day. Bad points were the lack of toilets at the start and I would say a pretty shameful goody bag. I got a nice glass memento last year, but this year there wasn't so much as a T-shirt. Instead, I got a wagon wheel and a brown banana. Not worth £20, I think. I'd do it again though because it's only a 20minute drive as opposed to a 1-2 hr trip to another one. Sorry to sound miserable! Date of review: May 19, 2013

In short: Beautiful Pain In full: The scenery was absolutely beautiful- It was worth the walk up the hill(s) to appreciate it. Nice support, decent goody bag and medal. Definitely NOT a PB race, it's so ridiculously steep in places. The downhills are fast and fun, especially if you do plane wings with your arms and make the noises...not that I did that, of course... In short: I liked it! In full: Whilst I can appreciate the negative reviews from the front runners as that must have been incredibly annoying, I can say from an average runner's point of view that this isn't half bad. I think it definitely has PB potential and would be a nice introduction to the world of half marathons for a beginner. The support was ok- it serves as a reminder that not all half marathons are going to have the same atmosphere as the big ones such as the Bupa Great Runs. I was grateful for the support that was there- they appreciate a breathless 'Thanks!' as much as we appreciate the fact they came out to clap us. Parking wasn't a mega jaunt from the start line and it was great that there was a nice charity feel to it. Not an all-time fave but I'll definitely do it next year. Date of review: September 2, 2012

In short: Undulating takes on a whole new meaning In full: A lovely race with nice scenery. Definitely not a PB course and the word 'undulating' is a slight understatement(!) but on the whole, very satisfying and I would do it again. Date of review: August 8, 2010

In short: Loved it! In full: A lovely scenic course. Looking at all the nice houses made the time go quicker as well. Nice beginner-friendly course; hills didn't last very long, and then there were the nice downhill sections to pick up some speed. Thanks for all the water stations, they were very useful for what turned out to be a hot run. Good practice for the Bham half next week! Date of review: October 4, 2009

In short: Fab to see Brum on the map! In full: A brilliant course! You never realise how hilly the flyover is in the car! It was more challenging than I thought it would be but in a good way.
I think it would be better next year if the chips were attached by a tie device to the actual shoelace, which gets clipped off after, as I've got quite a bad cut on the back of my ankle from the constant friction.
It may not have been the lack of loos but more of a lack of loo system which meant the pushers prevailed (no pun intended!eeew!)At London they have marshalls for the loos to stop toilet rage, which might be a good idea for next year if there are enough volunteers.
Brilliant goody bag, I'll be reusing my bag to show off to everyone, nice touch making it cotton as will last longer.
Good support and appreciated the musicians dotted about. They made for a great atmosphere. Loved the run and will be back next year! Date of review: October 27, 2008

In short: Nice run In full: I was so confused for the first 3 miles, as thought they were km signs and I was just going really slowly, so it was nice when I realised at 3miles that I was nearly half way!haha! I am a bit thick but it was confusing seeing as I was looking for km markers as it was a 10k race. Just me?? Probably. Grass ending was a slow one, but not much chance of a PB anyway. Good challenge and quite well organised. Date of review: August 6, 2008

In short: Nice Run, quite fast In full: I enjoyed this run. Perfect weather conditions after the threat of rain. Wind was a bit strong but not too bad. Nice course and would definitely do it again. Could anybody tell me what the F19 category means in relation to FO? I left but i won an F19 prize even though I'm 23, so was a little confused. I wouldn't want to do anybody out of a prize!!any clues anybody? Date of review: July 20, 2008

In short: Soooo hard! In full: Oh my word, this was a toughy! Every time I made up some ground on the paths, I lost it again wading through the mud, but then that's only whats to be expected when we had a weeks worth of rain a couple of days before and there was the word 'forest' in the title. Stupid, stupid me! If anybody was offended by the girl in the Marmite vest cursing for the first 7 miles, I apologise! I made up some time towards the end to finish a couple of minutes before the 2hr mark,so was happy enough. Think I need the whole year to psyche myself up for the next one though!
