In short: Needs much better pre-race organisation
In full: A few simple changes would make all the difference: 1 - have a list of instructions for people arriving at the hall which says (1) get number, (2) get chip. 2 - put the surname categories ON THE WALL UP HIGH instead of on the desks, so people can see which queue to join instead of milling about aimlessly, clogging the place up. 3 - have some floor walkers to explain to people what's going on. The race was delayed due to queues to collect numbers, chips etc and with better organisation it could have got away on time. Otherwise a good race, slightly spoiled as always by Great Yarmouth drivers who decide to ignore the brave marshalls and drive on the course regardless.

In short: Start needs better organisation, lack of memento disappointing
In full: Have run this race twice before in 2009 & 2010. The start is badly organised and leads into a "funnel" where you have to fight a way through the slower runners who have decided to go to the front at the start. The marshalling and water stations are very good, the finish gets a good crowd and there's a good atmosphere throughout. This year there was no memento - for the last two years a ceramic "Reepham 10k" mug was provided which was a really nice touch. This year I got a green banana and a bottle of beer, which was disappointing and made me question the relatively high entry fee. Still, no doubt I'll do it again and remember to start right at the front next time.

In short: Good, solid Norfolk 10k
In full: Ran this last year, was 3 minutes quicker this year and with a PB, so well pleased with that. There was a very muddy patch between 7-9k which slowed things down, though weather can't be helped. However, the turning into the finish is too tight and takes time off the run, and I'd like to see the route replanned if possible to give a wider start and finish to prevent bottlenecking. Only other complaint was there was no toilet roll in the scout hut loos, which isn't ideal if you need to release those, um, "pre-race nerves". Otherwise a good job, thanks to the organisers.

In short: The friendliest race on the Norfolk Circuit?
In full: Certainly the organisation and planning that goes into the race, and the friendly Reedham locals, made this a very enjoyable run. It was baking hot, which scuppered any PB potential, but that's not something that can be controlled.
My only minor gripe would be the post-race bag could be a bit healthier - crisps and a mars bar aren't really great post-race snacks. But that is a minor point and overall this is a great race.

In short: Disappointed with my time but not the race
In full: Blew up badly after 22 miles and scraped in just under 4h 30, very disappointing. Enough about me though. Wonderful organisation and a brilliant race, everything I had hoped for apart from my time.

In short: Poor organisation for the 2009 10k
In full: Car parking was poorly signposted, the changing facilities were just about adequate, the course itself had roadworks in the first kilometre which led to the addition of a narrow tight right hand turn which caused congestion, there was a lack of marshalls, their marshalling was inadequate which led to spectators/tourists walking across and around the race course, causing several people to stop or dodge. One runner was almost run over by a car driving across the course in the last kilometre. Bit of a shambles really, all things considered.

In short: Wonderfully slick half marathon
In full: Just needs a few tweaks, and - organisers - please ban MP3 players from next year, the number of dummies who crashed into me and people around me because they were unable to hear people approaching/passing was simply too high.

In short: Good once you find it
In full: The supplied map was inadequate, the signposting to find the event was poor, there were no signs through Wroxham or Hoveton and I ended up having to ask the locals for directions. Everything else was very good indeed and I achieved a PB which was exactly what I wanted.
