In short: Mud Flume Delight
In full: One of the hardest races I've ever done, easily compares with some of the coastal trail races. Organisation was superb, apart from the 'accidental' mixed changing rooms at the beginning! The marshals were so friendly (aren't they always? What a rare breed), and really encouraging. The course was unrelenting, incredibly muddy, lung-bustingly hilly in places, and a load of fun to run. There was mud. And mud. And then more mud. Bottle of Stella at the end, nice medal, decent tee shirt. Oh, one nice touch was runner name on the race number so marshals could shout your name encouragingly. And hot showers at the end! Really couldn't fault this race. But .... don't attempt it as your first. Brilliant. Hopefully it'll be even muddier next year!

In short: Great choice for my first marathon
In full: This was my first marathon, and I'm so glad I chose this one. A beautiful route, wonderfully encouraging marshals, and plenty of drink stations. I finished in 4:30 after suffering some bad leg cramps, but I'm still thrilled. And taking a little longer than I'd hoped just means an easier time to beat next time!

In full: This was my first half marathon, and I enjoyed it. A bit overwhelming running in such a large race after a few local 10k races, and I found the start very cramped and claustrophobic. But once out on the run, the atmosphere was great -- friendly crowds, friendly runners. Scenery could have been better, as Cardiff has some beautiful places, and that loooooong drag along the dual carriageway was tough. But overall I really enjoyed the whole day, broke 2 hours (by 6 minutes!) which was my main aim, and I'll be along again next year.

One thing, runners -- please look beside/behind you before spitting. That's just gross.

A big thanks to the organisers and the excellent marshalls.

In short: Great fun, great race, fantastic day.
In full: This was my first 10k. Really well organised, a beautiful course, marshals were all very encouraging -- hats off to them -- and I finished in 53 mins. I was very happy with that. Hope to better it next year! Great facilities in the Event Village to keep my family occupied while I was running, and a splendid pint of Speckled Hen afterwards. Top notch.
