In short: The race i dreamt about at the start of training!! In full: You cannot beat the FLM!!! I love it and feel so lucky to have competed in 4 now. Organisation is superb, great tee-shirt this year too....and not forgetting the all important medal! I am on top of the world as, despite the very hot conditions, my race went as close to perfect as i could have wished. Trained harder than ever before and broke 3h30mins for first time ever with a new PB, by 8minutes, of 3h26m22s. Paced myself so well that i was able to increase pace for last 2 miles and, for first time ever, actually ENJOY the Embankment and Birdcage Walk. Icing on the cake is the best finish straight imaginable, basked in glorius sunshine!! Date of review: April 27, 2007

In short: Uninspiring route and poorly signposted In full: Sorry but not a race i would do again. The circuit is bland with monotenous long straight stretches that just go on and on, making the course pretty uninteresting. The off road section, whilst not a surprise because i had read about it beforehand, for me spoils the race as a serious road race. For all but the best runners there will be little chance of PB's. The Marshalls are friendly enough, particularly the lady at the turn onto the off road bit. You deserve a medal for the encouragement you gave to everyone. And the signposting from the A17 is fine if your travelling from the Sleaford side only, but no one had bothered to put a sign up for competitiors travelling in from the Newark/A1 side. Directions in the info pack were poor..almost non existent. Car parking was excellent and well organised. I know people put a lot of effort into organising these events but, for me this one needs a little more attention to detail at the moment. Date of review: February 25, 2007

In short: Stop moaning about hills!! Running is a challenge...great day! In full: Excellent course, thouroughly enjoyed the climbs, and unless you live in Lincolnshire (or somewhere equally flat) you shouldn't have a problem if you're prepared well. The new route was good however some control is needed at the start to keep slower runners further back as there were lot's of runner's starting at the fast end of the field and making it difficult for the quicker runners to get away. The people dressed as clowns carrying collection buckets who started in the sub 1hr30min section should be ashamed of themselves. It is simply not courteous to others. Other than that the organisation was superb and the great weather was the icing on the cake.
