In full: 2 laps of 5 mile each 1 mile downhill 1st then 3 and a bit of climbing not too steep but drag most of the 5th and last mile a nice downhill slope.
Good event small enough to be no faff but chip timed only moan is water in cups as I can't drink from them while running

In short: Nice in parts but too risky in others
In full: The marshals friendly bunch hall quite busy as said at the start. Buses ok but a bit of a walk.
Worse things for me (And this was not a cheap race)
Momento was fine if you are XXL with the arms the length of a 5 year old.
No fruit or bottle at the end.
Cups of water!! come on we had to stop to drink.
Running on busy roads :-(
The last one being the worst very risky running on the road with lorries and buses passing from behind (yes running with the traffic) I'm sorry but for me I can't see how they can get away with it someone will get killed!

Won't be back disappointing after reading the reviews on here I thought this would be a good one.

In short: Killing it softly
In full: Second time in the Coventry Half the main reason I do it is because it's a local race and I like to support local races. I did this in 2009 and it was a much, much better event. New route which I think is way too hilly which makes it tough for new runners.
The start no markers for expected finish time even though it was said there would be this meant most runners didn't know where to start from. Hardly any entertainment the square n previous Cov halfs had bands and stalls etc. building a good atmosphere. The start as late for no apparent reason it was almost impossible to hear the PA at the back.
It was a red hot day this was forecast for weeks before but they removed a water station this meant 4 miles uphill in 25C till the first water IMHO this was criminal. I paid extra for the premium package supposed to be a better goodie bag but they where all the same (full of paper spam and an apple) and also a tech shirt but none left in my size as they handed them out to anyone whether they had paid extra or not. The course was missing markers. this lead up to the finish had none at all! nothing from mile 11 to the finish that didn't even have finish wrote on it. No clock at the finish so pity those who had no watch on their wrists.
Bottom line it was a disgrace the good people of Coventry supported it well in the sunshine thank god or this would have been a waste of money and effort.
The only reason I will possibly do it again is because it's local but if it is as bad next time I won't bother again.
To be fair though if they organize it the same way next year I think it will be dead not sure they managed to sell the 2K entries this year so it's already getting smaller every year.
Coventry is a big City please sort it out or just don't bother you will only cause damage to the name of Coventry if you carry on like this.

In short: Nice event not really a race
In full: Nice event for beginers apart from the timing. Nice park to run around 4 laps a bit too much on the 10K but 2 laps is ok on the 5K.
The worst thing is they only bothered recording the forst30 or 40 runners times in the 5 and 10K events!! I'm sorry but if ouyou take people money then the least you can do is record their imes even if not overly accurate. It's not just the top 30 that are bothered about their times we all are all the way down the field.
Also took ages to find the few results that are there hidden in the Shirley Lions web site with about 8 photos.
Shame really as 1 persn with a stop watch and another with a clip board could have made a massive difference.
Oh and the woman looking after the bouncy castle basically didn't like children judging by her attitude towards them.

In short: Fast course but bad winds and rain slowed it down
In full: New PB for us on this as it is a flat course the wind and rain didn't help and the 4 mile stretch down cost was a killer. I thought £18 was expensive medal was ok but this is not chip timed in fact no claock at finish or anyhting good ob I had my garmin. Banana and water finish so not much there I think this should be a £10 unless they chip it. Thank you to the marshals who braved the weather.

In short: Mud mud mud and more mud
In full: Was a little too much of the ploughed field stretches for us we lost our running shoes in one field had to dig them out by hand and finish the field in socks lost at least 15 minutes there.
Nice people though but seemed more like a club type event with not many slow fat ones like me there.
A couple of moans £11 entry fee for non affiliated race is steep I feel and they had ran out of the published momento when we got back I allways feel that entries should not be taken above the number of prizes you have to give out without at least warning of this.
No course published on the website even though an event run by runners at least one them must own a Garmin or simular?
Nice little event though and nice support with loads of drinks stations and cake etc. provided shame about the negatives.

In short: Tough but well suported and great views
In full: We loked at thi and felt it might be a bit tough for us as the hour limit looked troublesome with all the hills. We also though looking at previous results it was a sort of club runner level and had that feeling on the day. Everyone was very friendly though and free tea and coffee before and after the race at race HQ was a nice touch. We actually managed a PB for 5 miles coming in well under the hour in 47:28 so even the hills couldn't slow us down. The crowds at the start and finish (mainly there for the Carnival) helped us along as well. Will be back next year wel done Buxton a great little race

In short: Nice day friendly event
In full: Quite well organised start was slow though for what is not a large field and no clock to look at on the finish line which I though was dissapointing. Bumpy course with a couple of lung busters but still enjoyed it would prefer a medal as they don't fade and get thrown away as quick as the teeshirts would do it again though.
