In short: Hills? No none of them around here
In full: I do forget how much fun some charity races are.
For a reasonable entry fee and a few quid donation to the cause you get a very cheery village full of happy people (even the seasoned club runners put a smile on their faces).
You get a good course, this one flat as a pancake with a sea view, lots of cheering spectators, good lot of water (pretty much every mile, although it was in cups) and a jolly mention by the mc when you cross the finish line.
All good stuff.

In short: A nice course but small touches let it down
In full: A nice and challenging course with some nice views at times. Hills are tough particularly as the organisers say the significant climbs are before 5 miles, they keep going until 9. People of Hastings were very vocal and good fun, although they do lie.

The big issue for me is just how busy it is. Not on the course but the start/finish area was packed, making it very difficult to get some water at the finish, perhaps they need to extend the runner only finish enclosure further and put the water in there.

Parking was a pain, got there an hour before to find the car parks full and had a good 15 min walk from where I parked on the streets.

It does makes me question if this site can handle the number of people this brings in.

In short: Great Run team do it again
In full: You do the Great Runs for the atmosphere and there was lots to go round here. lots of places for spectators to watch the race lots of music points on the course.

Could have done with a few more signs above head height in the runners only section to show where baggage & pens were.

Hill was tough but nothing anyone should be afraid of

In short: Woolmer race - Think we were lucky with the weather
In full: Not as Brutal as I imagined but would have been a different story had it rained in the past couple of weeks. They still found a fair amount of mud though.

Nice start to the cross country season, looking forward to the next two.

In short: Great Course need to work on organisation
In full: Really enjoyed the race itself, picturesque for a charity road race and some good views of the palace and grounds. Quite challenging for a charity race.

the 2 announcers need to be coordinated. one saying get to the start, the other saying start delayed. With the heat needed to say how long it would be delayed for so that people could get into shade. Also was describing which pen to get in by the way he was faced (towards the palace) and not the way we were coming in (away from the palace) so left & rights were round the wrong way.

Toilets need to be better signed, particularly the ones in the palace itself.

In short: Exactly what a trail run should be
In full: In this game its all about the course and this is a cracker.

Lots of narrow tracks, steep climbs and descents, great views. There were some tricky bits around 7 miles which are very fun and well signed.

Good organisation on the day, good route marking and friendly marshals.

Really don't need to change anything about this race.

In short: For a run which goes up and down the same hill 5 times its very enjoyable
In full: And boy what a hill, each climb is a toughie, picturesque in a number of places.

Slightly too many miles on wide tracks makes it feel slightly unattached from the woods around you. And the style early on made for quite a long bottleneck early in the race.

Excellent organisation, probably the best course marking I've seen. Drinks stations all in the right places.
