In short: This was my favourite race of the year. In full: Up and down steep hills, through Tilgate Forest, no water stops to slow you down - this race was pure fun all the way. I love Tilgate Forest, it's where I train - a great run with great people. Date of review: November 5, 2008
In short: It goes up a very steep hill. In full: An amazing race with a terrifying profile. You run (or attempt to run) up a really really steep hill, and then along the top, so the scenery is absolutely amazing. Just don't look at the profile before the race, you'll have nightmares. In short: Not just for brummies! In full: Almost 9,000 runners, goes through Brum city centre, past the floozie in the jacuzzi in Victoria Square, and is a nice challenging-but-easy course too. Nice atmosphere, would be good to see the event grow into something really good. Inaugural race had a completely awesome medal, too. Date of review: November 5, 2008
In short: Lewis Hamilton's Home Hlaf In full: And mine, too!! I don't live in Stevenage, but I'm from sometown outside. I'd run it again because my mother cheers me from the finish line. Not a bad run by any means, but not worth a massive journey for. Date of review: November 5, 2008
In short: Orienteering Crawley In full: I'm a seasoned runner but I have never orienteered before. I was clueless and a bit nervous about the whole thing, but now I'm a convert. The event involved finding and running between 17 checkpoints as quickly as possible without getting lost, breaking an ankle or something like that. I'm pleased to say I managed this. My time wasn't particularly good, but I gather the Crawley course is technically quite challenging so I was pretty pleased to finish at all!
Support for rookies by the event organisers, the Southdown Orienteers, was first rate - I don't think you could hope for a friendlier group. Thoroughly recommended - I will certainly orienteer again. Date of review: September 14, 2008
