In short: I see why this marathon sells out! In full: This one one of the best marathons I have ever run...the scenery was absolutely beautiful and the marshalls and water stations were fantastic...every aspect of the race was well organized...
and yes the hills were a lot worst than the organizers indicated....so do a bit of hill training in preparation for this one...
there are times when you are alone...but hey that is a logical trade off to any pristine surrounding...if there were loads of people around it wouldn't be this nice..
see my garmin for the route and elevations...don't laugh at my time!

In short: Bring Your A-Game In full: I absolutely loved this challenging race...however this is not the race to "find out" whether you can run 20 miles or rather you can overcome hills...
While there are always people who can just show up and do well, I strongly recommend that you do at least 4 weeks of hill work and 2 long runs (14+ miles) before doing this race...
You hill work can be as simple as making sure 1 or 2 of your weekly runs incorporates a few hills...

In short: Wonderful Scenery; deceptively challenging... In full: A great half marathon within the wonderful countryside..
Eventhough the course was mainly flat, this is not the sort of race to acheive a PB because of the off road terrain, potentialy muddy footing and fence obstacles that you have to climb at least 5 times..
also you need to bring your own generous water supply...the water holes were few and far between...
all and all...a fantastic race...well organized and well located...I will def do it again if my knees allow...wonderful and nice runners...great chats afterwards Date of review: August 22, 2010

In short: Very Challenging 1/2 Marathon! In full: This course is great but definitely not for the beginners...I found the number of hills very challenging...and was extremely proud that I never walked...
PS: the staff were lovely
if you are not a vet...i recommend that you begin with a slightly slower pace than your average...if you have more energy towards the end then you can crank it up then...
but note...the toughest hill begins at mile 11...so proceed with caution...
if you are an elite runner...this is a great course to help improve your speed in the long run... Date of review: July 23, 2010
