In short: Horrendous conditions but enjoyable! In full: A great morning out, despite the atrocious weather of driving rain and high winds in parts. Marshalling was excellent and really uplifting. Thankyou. No chance of a PB (out of 150 runners, Only 18 managed sub 45 mins, and only 3 sub 40, which gives you some idea of the conditions). Scenery was nice on the trails and a good t-shirt at the end (Although no goody bag). Spot prizes were a nice touch, as there's no chance of me winning anything otherwise!
Only little gripe was that there were mile markers for this 10k race, which put me off somewhat. I usually tune myself to the KM markers in races and adjust pace accordingly. Maths is hard when you're tired and wet!
All in all though a well organised and friendly race. I will be back next year, hopefully with better weather! Date of review: October 19, 2010
In short: Great organisation and a quick course. In full: Travelled from Nottingham to this quick course to try and get sub 50 for the first time. I did it - by 2 seconds - despite the warm and energy sapping weather so well worth the trip!
Signage, organisation and marshalling were brilliant. Almost all the marshalls I passed were clapping and giving encouragement, as were the people lining the last two hundred metres. Bushfield Joggers made every effort to ensure a smooth race from registration to medals. Water was plentiful and the goody bag was much needed and welcomed. It's not a scenic course, apart from the end through the woods where the shade was welcome. Will be back next year - even if they extend it to seven miles as suggested! Date of review: July 12, 2010
In short: Great Day Out and Killer Hill ! In full: Glorious weather and spectacular views made for a great 10k race. As a beginner, the organisation was so professional I felt a little out of my depth when I turned up! And with race commentary booming out around the park as well, I was very nervous at the start! Huge hill at 3.5k - I was in the middle of the pack and not one person around me ran all the way up, despite two marshalls at the top giving us loads of encouragement! Not a pb course, and it would be extremely tricky if the weather was bad, but that's trail racing I guess. All round a great day, and you can stay on for the fun of the horse trials. Well done Grantham AC for putting on such a great inaugural race! Date of review: April 19, 2010
In short: Should've worn my wellies! In full: A very well organised race. The marshalls were brilliant. A bit of a bottle neck start with the first hill going into Sherwood Forest completed by walking. Very muddy and puddles everywhere but if you don't like that, stick to road races :)! Decent T-Shirt at the end as well. Will definitely brave it next year! Date of review: December 7, 2009
