In short: New quick route but takes away the nicer parts of Nottingham
In full: This was my third Robin Hood and by far the quickest but obviously a better class of runner out there as nearly 400 places lower than the previous year!

The new route certainly delivered on times with the majority of people I know running quickly but it was pretty dull with the exception of the University and the Embankment.

It was a shame to take out Wollaton Park as this is a good spectator point and helps spur on the runners. I can understand the Castle being taken out because of the bottleneck but running under a concrete flyover and round Industrial Estates, not exactly selling Nottingham!

I'll be back as it is my nearest half with the disappearance of smaller races. Shame about the route not being more memorable!

In short: Quick evening blast!
In full: A good race. Unfortunately let down by other colleagues so we were a beleagued team of 2!

A different venue to last year and a fast park run all on tarmac with minimal incline, in fact it's a flat race!

Think I preferred the cross country of the previous year but to clock a quick 5 mile time is also a good challenge.

Bit of a shame about the lovely members of the public that decided they wanted to walk 3 abreast on a couple of paths but not bad considering.

Will be back next year and will definitely have a team or 2! Don't think we'll be beating Aston Martin though, fast cars, fast runners!

In short: Just about as tough as they come but hugely enjoyable
In full: This was my 3rd attempt at the Rugby Rover and I think the course is now winning 2:1! I knew what to expect but what with the temperature and the humidity it made it one tough day. The hills were as expected and it was great that the kissing gate at the start had "mysteriously" been removed this year. So no immediate bottle necks.
Still a great race even with the mud, cows, hills, heat and humidity.
Think I will have to put a bit more work in next year but I will be back!!

In short: Another great Rugby Rover!
In full: This was my second year taking on the Rugby Rover and I had a few demons to get over. I took it nice and steady up the hills to save my legs for the final flat stint, it worked better than last year but still very tired legs at the end!

The race was excellently marshalled and signed, a nice friendly feel with a good mix of club runners and fun runners with good banter and conversation on the way round.

The bottlenecks at the start can't be helped, it is a shame a few of the farmers won't move herds away for the day and allow the bigger gates to be opened but it makes it a nice steady start.

I will defintely be back, 20mins quicker this year and just under 3hrs. Next year who knows!!

In short: Tough but enjoyable and good atmosphere
In full: Being relatively local to the area I knew we were in for a hill or two but having been out of action for a few weeks this was a hard come back.
It was nice that most of the village appeared to be out to wish us all on and back to the finish and there was ample water supplies for a 10k.
A really nice midweek run and I'll be back next year to try and go quicker and get up the hills better!

In short: Cold, wet, muddy, hilly and BL**DY BRILLIANT!!
In full: After missing out on the winter Beast last year because of Marathon training I had no excuse this year so took the plunge!!
The rain during the week saturated the ground which made for heavy and very slippery ground. At times it was hard enough to stay on your feet when on a straight never mind uphill and downhill.
What a great laugh though and a really good challenge, one of the hardest races I've done and I'll be back for more!
Managed to stay relatively unscathed through the race but got covered in the mud pushing a car out the car park, if only people could learn to drive carefully but a very sit-com moment for my friends!

In short: Lovely trail run round Sherwood Forest
In full: A lovely race round parts of Sherwood Forest, well organised and marshalled and a quick trail course with only gradual hills and nothing too strenuous.

Would have loved to have run before Christmas and unfortunately fitness and illness slightly dampened performance but a good race none the less and will look forward to running again in December.

In short: Well organised, great scenery and quicker than you would think!
In full: I started the race with no expectations and got better and better as the race went on. It is nice that the finish is quick and the hard bits in the first half of the race. As always it is a bit of a shame that so many people have no idea what time they will run and have to be ran round in the first mile but this is as much my fault for not going nearer the front!
A great race and I will definitely be back next year and may find it harder!

In short: Great fun on a Friday night!!
In full: I really enjoyed this event. Didn't really feel like it sat at my desk at 4.30 but what great fun. A great mix of standard of runner and all very friendly, lots getting in with atmosphere and dressing up. I had a fully clad skeleton go past me down one of the hills. It was a shame they couldn't get the car park open to save the queuing on the roads, shame they couldn't include the parking in the event fee and get it opened for next time. This was my first night race and will be back again in the summer and next year!

In short: Hills and stiles.................but a bit different and a good challenge
In full: I have seen this race advertised over the last couple of years and managed to fit it in this year. I went in to this race not knowing quite what to expect apart from hills!
There were a few bottlenecks to get through gates and stiles and it was quite hard to get in to a rhythm but what can you expect when running where we were!
This might not be a fell race but makes a nice change for the not so serious runner.
We were aiming for 3 1hr 10ks which I still think is a good aim. The first one was a bit slow because of waiting and the hills. The second one was quicker and then unfortunately my legs went. I need to go back next year now to improve!!
I though the signs were very good and it meant you had to concentrate as did the terrain. Very enjoyable and legs are aching today!!
