In short: A very special race
In full: I really enjoyed this race, cant exactly put my finger on what made it so special, the crowds? the ponies? the very very enthusiatic and supportive marshalls? or the time spent putting out the signs on that final hill to make it seem less painful and make you smile?

whatever it was i enjoyed every step of this race and think I managed to smile all the way round! thank you for a lovely race.

one minor point was the slow baggage collection... I'd recommend looking how Reading Half marathon manage it,

In short: Could do better
In full: Overall the race was good, however the start and some of the marshalling was a bit questionable.
Not being properly directed to the start led to a stressful start and no cahnce of being able to properly space out in time bandings which made the first part of the race quite challenging.

The marshalls were really good when they were bothering, but some just sat in chairs and had a chat, it would be quite nice to be encourage a bit more in the last tough few miles.

When I was finding it difficult at the end I did not appreciate being told that I was the 38th walker in a row and it was not a walkathon..not quite the encouraging words you expect from marshalls.

The course is not as flat as people made out, i'm not sure I'll be back next year.

In short: A very well organised race
In full: I'd never done Swindon before and had heard all about the tough course, but no one had remembr to say how well organised it was, no issues at toilets queues, the course wasn't crowded and there was plenty or support from the friendly marshalls.
My only (very slight) negative was that I would have much prefered/needed a full sized bottle of water at the finish line, that small bottle just didnt quite rehyfrate me as much as I needed.

I am very likely to be back next year.

In short: A nice sunday morning run by the river
In full: A really nice route and a very quick paced run. Only gripe was the traffic on the first few miles, could a one way system round the route improve these problems next year?

Overall a lovely race with a good finish.

In short: The hills lived up to the reputation
In full: A tough 10k, but very enjoyable, perhaps more toilets required and also would have liked a bag for all the goddies given out at the end,

In short: very good pb potential
In full: a nice flat course which didnt seem to have any of the problems I read about in last years reviews, very enjoyable and I would defo do it again, two little grumbles from me; I would rather have less in the goody bag and have chip timing instead, my second little moan is that not every road that led onto the course was marshalled.
All in all a positive experience.

In full: This was my first attempt at a multi terrain race and I loved every second of it!

In short: More than one incline!
In full: The race pack talks about only one incline between 6-7 miles, I would argue that there are more than that!
Not enough toilets at the start.

Challenging route and not easy to run round that industrial estate near the end.

In short: Another well run event
In full: Some might say that three laps round a race track is a bit boring, and they may well be right, however this is a fantastic race to be able to run well thought out race plan, you know exactly what is coming when and know when to make your move, defo PB potential!
