In short: maybe its just me but.... In full: This is my third time. maybe because I started near to the back, i spent the whole race queuing. This is an event that appears to get bigger every year which would be fine if the start was staggered. It took me ten minutes longer to get round than last year and half an hour longer than the year before. I didn't even ache on Sunday!
The woodland disco was back (nice touch), the food was a lot more abundant, although was running out by 9pm and was quite poor quality (£5 for a dollop of mushroom risotto).
The event is made by the fancy dress and humour. At one time, we used to get hilarious emails prior to the event. Even they are not as good as they used to be. Maybe I'm just getting old!

In short: I love these little friendly runs In full: Run by locals, very friendly, no gimmicks or frills (other than that Carrot Cake). The course is a simple out and back route, very flat but we were warned at the start that more stone had been put on , this made it a bit uneven and tiring on the legs. The weather was superb (for November). A really nice day out, glad i went. Date of review: November 11, 2010

In short: Superb organisation, magnificent race In full: Loved it. The convoy of Busses to the start, the motorcycle marshals, the Portaloos blowing around in the wind, the torrential rain, peeing in the forest, little groups of wet people huddled at the side of the road clapping, the hills, the water stations, the scenery, the hills, the finish, the medal, the goody bag with the tin of soup in it, THE WEE NESSIE, family atmosphere, big inflatable monster.... The pasta party was a bit school dinners (ish)but it was spectacular. Back next year i hope. Date of review: October 7, 2010

In short: Another superb run (for the organisers, not me, I was pants). In full: I would like to thank the organisers for obviously taking seriously last years concerns about the gridlock on the kingston bridge. A longer run into it, then two lanes to run on made a huge difference. Its the GSR, Its great, the atmosphere, the organisation, the goody bag was great as well.

In short: Scottish summer came and went on 23rd May In full: Only a fortnight ago it snowed! I trained through snow in December and January and again in March, in the dark and wet of Scottish winter and then two days before the race the sun came out!
The start was well organised, so many water stations at the beginning i was awash and then suddenly, I was 18 miles from home, no energy drinks and the water stations all but dried up. The water situation is obviously far better than last year but needs a tweak.
The course - when you can see miles and miles of runners as far as the eye can see is a bit intimidating. It could have been more interesting, perhaps if we ran back down the coast having run inland a bit?
The heat spoilt it. The end ruined it. I agree that the silly mats were a bit dangerous although the grass would have been muddy if the weather had been bad. The Shuttle bus was a joke. The taxis were charging £15 into town and were fully booked. I was alone, exhausted, dizzy, had heat stroke and ended up having to totter around Musselbrough until a member of the public took pity on me and helped me back to the station - even though i had a ticket for the shuttle bus. In short: another top event In full: Once again, a superb event, this year there were far more marshalls, and a proper medal (although a goody bag would be nice and I object to being asked to pay for a t shirt). The run was superb, bit of a hold up at the beginning due to the nice weather, but still a race I would never like to miss. Where was the woodland disco? The course was the same - exciting or dangerous depending on your view. Loved it. The food was still awful though. Date of review: March 21, 2010

In short: Don't know what they put in that mud, but its not scrubbing off! In full: Superb fun, brilliant weather and lots and lots of mud! Always nice to get off the road occasionally and that was certainly off road! The goody bag was very good, the t.shirt excellent. Did I mention the mud? Yeah, there was loads of the stuff. Maybe changing rooms that were not Marquees with windows in? I know that showers are unlikely, but someone in the carpark with a hosepipe would have been enough. I nearly had to walk home as the o/h didn't want me in his new car. Date of review: September 12, 2009

In short: Another wonderful run In full: if I was going to be picky I would say that there were not as many Pipers as last year, Jimmy Saville must have been double booked and the first couple of miles of the course could have been wider. However, I am not Picky, I had a great day out again and lots of fun. Plenty of water stations, thousands of toilets. Please could there be some entertainment at the end for the children? They managed a sack race etc at East Kilbride...A bouncy castle wouldn't hurt. Date of review: September 6, 2009

In short: Proper Yorkshire Hospitality In full: A grand day out. Muddy, wet, suicidally slippy in places, probably better suited to the walker than the runner, but a cheerful, well organised event managed by people who obviously genuinely care about the experience had by the entrants. In short: A good day out. In full: Really enjoyed it. Yes, East Kilbride is a bit dull, yes there are lots of roundabouts, but it was happy, chilled out, everyone smiled, even the bored people in the traffic jams caused by us were waving and clapping. At the point where the 10k runners disappeared I felt a bit lonely (and realised just how slow I must be going) but as i finished my second lap I met some of the 10k people still struggling round!
The events in the stadium were fab, my kids had a great time and really felt involved.
Could have done without a long sleeved top (or did I ask for one) cut the sleeves off it anyway.
Good run. Back next year. Date of review: June 23, 2009
