In short: Potential..........but not sure for what!
In full: Lovely crisp morning, and the new Bradford City Park is a refreshingly positive aspect to Bradford.
Then the problems start.......the start area was really just a gathering point, not particularly clear and a lorra lorra runners just ambling about, couldn't hear any announcements.
The start point choice itself was odd to say the least, as we then has to run round the frozen fountain area, and the assembled crowd, and across the dual carriageway to Thornton Road, why not just have the start there as much simpler, safer, and just better!!
As we all now know a wrong turn meant we missed out about 0.75km, the 4km marker appeared just after my garmin beeped for 3km!
As a two lap course it was back to the City Park, and out again. Surely they will have realised and fixed the course? Er, no. Same again, which I do find really poor as the 5k runners all finished in personal bests by this point.
Icy morning and a slightly convoluted course, which no doubt helped add to the loss of the same 0.75km again.
Nice to cross the line in a personal best 44min, but quickly knew it wasn't right. Feel really sorry for people who travelled and stayed over, plus huge trophies on offer for the proper athleticky sorts, they must be fuming as they will gear their whole run to it being 10k, not 8.5k.
Potential for a decent december 10k here, mistakes do happen but on a two lap course amazed they didn't at least sort it out for the second lap.
Plus point, some great lycra.

In short: Meggle please?
In full: 4th go ate the abbey dash, first time I've got slower, but started a bit further back as the start area was full from well in advance of the race - was this also the warm up area or something?! Fair bit of weaving on the run itself, and the final run in is congested due to narrowing down to one lane.

The finish area was very congested, lots of runners not really able to go anywhere, from other comments needs sorting and would rather have a medal than another "technical" t. Nice to get a for goodness shakes at the finish and a good near end of the year run in spite of some of the issues that seem to have crept in this year, but it has become a big run now with a lot of first timers.

In short: Mushy pea challenge!
In full: First time on this run so can't comment on the old to new course, but plenty of organisation has gone ito this - cone-d off running on the roads, and that's a lot of cones, plenty of friendly marshalls, and yes a very long slow uphill that added around 6 mins to my usual 10k time! Great atmoshphere though, yes delay at the start - perhaps send out the numbers in advance next year? Mushy peas in the goody bag, I think bottles of beer in some so presumably this made all the bags weigh the same? Excellent t shirt, overall a recommended and challenging run

In short: Great Charity Event
In full: Second year on this one with my two boys aged 8 and 10, and an event really designed for first timers and charity runners / walkers. Good atmosphere and great marshalling, my two really enjoy this event (although they got a toy in last years goody bag, they were after eating the coffee granules in this years!), Sefton Park a great place for running, just need to check the photos now to see if my 10 year old really was the first kid to finish, as he claims he was!

In short: Great event for first timers
In full: Great event in York, big thanks to all the marshalls and the guys sorting the car park out, which was a hell of a job in its own right in the sun.
Ideal event for beginners, slightly frustrating start for runners though, holding the warm up at the start line led to a lot of walkers for the first few km.
Really enthusiastic marshalls and a great cause.

In short: 3 minutes till the start....actually just go!
In full: Very scenic run, well organised and marshalled, shame about the weather but even with this seemed to be a good turn out. For 10k runners some overlap with the 5k walkers on the final two k, but other than that very well organised, reasonably "undulating"! And like another comment I also found the turn off from the A1 had gone so went on a junction further and back!

In short: I'm Melting!
In full: Well organised on the whole with plenty of marshalls, but as per another comment few minor gripes..take the barriers out near the start as instant bottleneck, and as it was such a hot day perhaps more water further along the route?
These are minor gripes though as very welcoming run, the gala itself looks excellent, and whilst the route is very "undulating" (I must look up what this actually means!) the locals along the route are very supportive

In short: Mind the puddle(s)
In full: The rain stopped just about in time. A really well organised race, with excellent supportive marshalls and good support all the way along the route.
Still a gripe with the start although better with red and green bibs split, but quickly coming back together along the Headrow leading to a lot of congestion and bottlenecks for the first 2 - 3km.
Great atmosphere though, good t shirt, enjoyable race with a great cause and name at its core.

In short: Ready steady....
In full: ....go! The start was fun, a kind of pre race treasure hunt to find it! Nice route even with the sudden stone stairs after two or three km, and my certifictae time is much better than my garmin time, so naturally I'll be using that one!
