In short: Too hot for the start time In full: They really need to think about the start time, or insistent about keeping 1pm hold it either in August or Oct/Nov to ensure colder weather. I have never seen so many people walking (myself included) on a half before. The heat definitely got to me as I was a whole 14 mins slower than three weeks ago. It would be nice to get more than a small bottle of water, Mars bar and medal at the finish. That said, the kids enjoy the face-painting and balloons whilst I'm 'running'. As I'm a local, will more than likely do it all again next (and complain about the start time) Date of review: September 28, 2014
In short: Fast course with PB potential In full: Really enjoyed this first Maidenhead half especially as I got a PB. Can't comment on baggage drop as used Nicholson walk carpark, and the starting loop didn't bother me - although I did notice some extremely slow runners right at the start. Missed the 4 & 5 mile markers which was a shame so couldn't get mileage split times. Good marshalling and crowd support (especially through Bray).
Will be adding this to my running calendar for 2012. Date of review: September 8, 2011
In short: Excellent race with great sights of London. Huge PB potential. Great crowd / marshall support In full: Although expensive to enter I feel it's worth it. Great tech T-shirt and lovely wooden leaf medal. Loads of additional freebies but shame you have to hobble around collecting them. Never knew Hyde Park was so big. Loads of crowd support and plenty of refreshments on course - loved the sweets from M&S. Will try to enter again for next year. Date of review: October 11, 2010
In short: Fantastic race with loads of support especially at start / finish. In full: Missed the 2009 race, but the course was the same as 2008, and still challenging in places - very happy with huge improvement on my time though. Agree that the race could start earlier, but at least the weather was cooler this time round (know 2009 was v. hot as was 2008). Great support from marshalls, and water stations. Brilliant for families to support as entertainment provided for young children - wish more events provided this. Don't experience the parking problem as live locally but it looked horrendous. Now if only the organizers could make that last mile shorter! Date of review: September 27, 2010
In short: Top notch organisation, excellent marshalling, loads of crowd support... In full: and very enthusiastic children at the water/sponge stations. Although missed out on a PB, beat my time from last year. Date of review: May 10, 2010
In short: Really enjoyable half marathon In full: Had a great run this year - knocking nearly 12 mins off my time from last year, and over 2 mins off my PB. Crowd support is amazing although I found it a bit congested in the town centre. Excellent idea to have the mats for the split timings. Date of review: March 22, 2010
In short: Challenging short steep hill at start, with longer hill towards end In full: Luckily the half didn't have the marshalling issues associated with the 10km. Could do with more toilets, and proper chip technology, but nevertheless a good race. Date of review: July 20, 2009
