In short: Good, but preferred the old course
In full: I ran the Chester Half on the old course back in 2010. Being an ex-pat of the city I took the opportunity to visit friends and family this time and race the new course. It was fast, but I found the course boring once out of the city. There are much better routes in/around Chester to run around than this course, the old course was one of them. Overall a decent race, not great but worth £26. If you're a PB chaser then I'd recommend it but only at this years prices.

In short: Well done Grantham AC
In full: This is a cracking race, certainly one where a PB is possible. There are two big hills, the first after six miles at an average of 8.5 per cent gradient and the second after 10 miles at 5.3 per cent, but the downhills and flat sections make up for this and hey, if it was easy it wouldnt be worthwhile. The techy shirt is great and overall you can pay double elsewhere and not get a race half as good. See you next year!

In short: Good race, but could be better
In full: This is the third time I've done this race, mainly cos its in my local park and also the puds are delicious. There is definite PB potential as it is mostly undulating. Dont be put off by the 'hill' at the end - its more of a lengthy slope! The only downside to the race is the cost - £12/14 is a bit pricey for what you get.

In short: Good organisation, excellent marshalls, delicious pud!
In full: This race sells out each year and it is easy to see why. The organisation is good - comments last year about potential funnelling at the end have been taken on board and resolved - and the marshall's support was first class. The race runs through an industrial estate for a k and a half but so what - after that it is through a couple of villages and back into the country park. Well done Heanor RC. Oh, the pud is delicious too! (I had one last year)
