In short: Not acceptable to run out of water! In full: This was my 3rd Eastleigh 10k. It's a good race with a nice fast course. I quite like the tshirt rather than medal, at least you can make use of it afterwards!
BUT big gripe, I finished in 59.08, a perfectly respectable time in a gun position 1846 out of 2333 runners. The water had run out! That is not acceptable. Water should be provided for every runner. Please sort out for next year Eastleigh! Date of review: March 24, 2014
In short: Excellent race! In full: Really well organised race from start to finish.
This is a tough course, starts and finishes on long grass, and the rest is pretty much trail. Plenty of hills and quite a bit of mud out on the trails. Lovely though and as long as you are not going to worry too much about a PB then it was an enjoyable race.
Thankyou to the person who pushed me into a sprint finish at the end as well!
In short: Organisation needs improving! In full: As a local I knew the route well, thankfully I did as there was a general lack of signs and marshalls throughout the course. Can quite understand how people went wrong !
I enjoyed the race, it was hard along the beach and muddy along Bransbury Park, so energy zapping and unlikely to get a PB... but good fun all the same...
I agree with other comments about the seafront being busy and as the weather was good there were lots of pedestrians and hazards along from mile 10 onwards. Not sure what you can do about that unless you went for an early start perhaps?
One thing I have to comment on is the lack of drinks at the finish... I know I finished 813 out of 943 runners, but really there should be drinks ready for everyone at the end. A bottle of water in the goody bag would have resolved that one.
A good course, but needs some attention! Date of review: February 18, 2013
In short: Yes I know it was free but not quite as advertised! In full: I know this was a free event, but disappointing that the advertised pacers weren't there, also the 5K turned out to be more like 4K.
Not sure of the value of the weighing in and sweat test at the beginning and end of session. It just took ages!
Not sure will bother with the other free events given my experience with this one.. Date of review: September 5, 2011
In short: Hottest day of the year so far for this one! In full: I did this race last year and it was stupidly hot then, so when I signed up to do it again, I thought it couldn't happen again. Wrong!
V hot from about 5km onwards and well done to the organisers for putting another drinks stop in, it was definitely needed.
A good course with varied scenery and a couple of inclines, that one at 7km in the blistering heat had several people walking.
Well organised with marshalls encouraging people and nice finish in with lots of support for a good finish.
Chip timing would just take this one up a notch for those of us who don't start right at the front, but like to ensure we have the time recorded. Bring that in for next year and I will be back! Date of review: June 27, 2011
In short: Start needs sorting out! In full: This was the second time I've done this race, so I knew where everything was -- otherwise finding the car park and knowing where the start was would have been interesting!
Other people have commented on the start, but really just needed a couple more marshalls and signs to ensure it was under control.
A good course, 3 times round is a bit draining - especially getting lapped by fast runners (really I am never going to run that fast, am in complete awe of these people). A good few twists and turns to make it interesting and water stop was well manned.
I quite like the towel idea, more useful than a medal for sure. Chip timing would be great - other races do it for the same price... Date of review: May 16, 2011
In short: fast course In full: Although I didn't get a PB yesterday - it is definitely a fast course. Bit of a hill around the 3km mark but then you go down afterwards.
Weather perfect for the race and I enjoyed it - couple of points though -- water stop at 6km was not able to keep up with demand when I went by and also like others have commented the finish line seemed to suddenly emerge... Date of review: March 28, 2011
