In short: Post Christmas race to shake out the cobwebs
In full: Great conditions for the race this year. Not windy, not too warm or too cold. The scenery in the race is a curious mix between loops in housing estates and open countryside. A few hills to keep you interested. I suffered in the last two miles after partying a little too hard in the preceding three weeks, but still managed a PB over the race 2 years ago. Will do it again as it is a good break from the debauchery over the break.

In short: My third time here and my third PB here - so can't complain
In full: Always enjoy this race. The run in from 10 miles means that if you pace it correctly then you are in chance of a PB. There was a lot of fog this year, which made it less scenic. The one negative about this is the parking, which is a bit of a trek from the race HQ. The first time I went you could park in a field behind the centre, but they have stopped that now.

In short: Fairly tough trail race in the heat
In full: First time doing the 10K, but I've done the 5K monthly handicap here many times, so I knew what to expect from the terrain. Basically make sure you don't run out of steam on the hills and preserve energy for the end. It was extremely hot as well which made it challenging - but I got a PB, so am pretty chuffed. Local race for me so I'll be back

In short: Very enjoyable although cold
In full: Second time I have done this race. Both times I got a PB. However it was very windy this time and the final run in with the wind whistling across the fields was a challenge. Good marshalling and support with four drinks stations. It is also particularly good for spectators with my family able to cheer me on at three different points in the race without any problems.

In short: Tough run through the forest but signage could have been better
In full: A tough race, particularly the climb up to high beech in the woods. I enjoyed myself but the race has been a little spoiled for me by all these outrageous accusations of cheating. I did the race and was following a group of other runners on what I thought was the course. After the 2nd water station i saw people appear at my left and join the path i was on, which took me by surprise and i did wonder whether they had got lost. However when finishing the race I saw my Garmin showed 9.56km rather than the full 10.

I am annoyed that I didn't get to do the full course and have all these people get on their high horse and talk about cheating and cutting off 'a couple of kms' is a little rich. All it needed was a little better signage and marshalling at that point. I don't even recall seeing a turning let alone a marshall.

In short: Fast race through east anglian countryside
In full: Great race again. Weather was challenging with a massive gusty headwind on the way out, but it helped a bit on the way back. Flatter than I remember from last year, with only one real mild incline at the beginning. Only criticism is that I couldn't hear the race organiser at the start giving instructions - a loud hailer would have been useful.

In short: Great hilly course spoiled by too much traffic and poor marshalling in places
In full: I loved the course up and around ashridge and the hills were great. But I was staggered to see the race stopped by a marshal to let traffic past. I waited 40 seconds for them to let traffic through along with a large crowd of runners. This was unacceptable, and the marshal was being very aggressive towards the runners to add insult to injury. Also there were far too many cars on the course and far to few marshals to deal with the traffic. There were particular pinch points were you thought they should have positioned marshals but there were none. Goody bag and medal were lame - but that is of little consequence - they need to sort out the traffic and marshalling as a priority.

In short: Enjoyable post-Xmas run in north herts
In full: Start was a bit chaotic with some idiot trying to drive through the runners lined up at the start, but once out of Buntingford the run was very pleasant with a few hills to get the pulse racing. Would be nicer if they dispensed with the round the houses part at the beginning. Parking and toilets were fine. PB potential if you can handle small hills. Oh yes, and it seems strange to have chip timing, but only to use the timing pads at the end.

In short: Nice run around central London & Hyde Park
In full: This was a great race through Hyde Park and central London with road closures and everything. Loads of support for the runners, particularly in Hyde Park. Race is pretty flat throughout. Results were texted through to me within 2 hours of the race finishing and race started dot on time.
