In short: Mr NGUG's report who ran and mine who didnt. In full: Mr NGUG's report his first half marathon:- Organisation - terrible. Transport due to Jubilee Line - terrible. There is only one transport route available for this venue. The buses stop and no other tube route. Goodie bag - non-existent. Medal - nice best bit. Scenary was mixed from really nice to really grotty. First half quite hilly especially Haha Road.. what sort of joke is that - mostly downhill thereafter but too tired to benefit enornmously. Baggage collection - absolutely awful. Staff were fine but organisation faceless and queues awful. Chip collection was random one or two girls collecting whilst getting your baggage. No taking your chip first then you get your medal. Windy and too gusty. NGUG's report:- I was injured and had an fairly serious operation involving shaving bone off my hip and mending a labral tear and am on crutches now for four weeks. I had booked this months ago and the injury was certainly not something that I had planned - the race was to be Mr NGUG's first race on my birthday. All indicated to the organisors when I wrote to tell them asking if I could defer. Amsterdam Marathon which was my autumn marathon were v.polite deferred me for a year although they dont have a derral policy. These guys were positively offensive said I had to tell them 90 days prior to the race start if I wanted to defer.. but wow the generousity they would offer me a preferential place for next year which I could pay for at the full price. No reply to my other queries concerning the chip.. general impression faceless uninterested organisation runs this. Date of review: September 26, 2010

In short: What a great race - loved it!! In full: Having travelled through torrential rain and been stuck in traffic for 30 mins I really didnt think we would make it to this one. As we approached the start line up the hill they had started already!! We were helped v.quickly through registration although couldnt even see the crowd when we started! Great marshalls and v.friendly atmosphere. Some amazing 'tashes - not only from the boys!! Three, I think, killer hills last one was evil - though 5 mins off my 10K PB for me so well pleased. Nice to have a medal although a bit cheap and goody bag too. Seemed v.good value for a 10K. Would definitely do it again. Date of review: November 16, 2009

In short: Not the best not the worst In full: Timing was a bit weird purely on gun times with a stop watch on your last lap - no chips. My mate who was doing the half marathon actually did a lap less than he should have done (as told he had done enough and to stop) so that part of the organisation not too hot. Wish they would give a medal for 10ks instead of tshirts. Was a little concerned about doing six loops which put me off doing the half marathon but in fact not too bad. Good atmosphere and introduction to off road running bit muddy in places. Date of review: October 26, 2009

In full: I think anyone contemplating doing this race should read these reports on RW. I would agree 100% - absolutely barmy start time was blazing hot. Wonder if the organisers have ever run at that time of day in that environment... Very hilly course so really not for the faint hearted. I was okay with the water stations not my first half by any means but always take some myself the two stops I threw the water down my neck each time. No shade on much of the course. Wonderful surroundings really should have started circa 9am. Nice medal though. Not a PB course although only 4 mins under mine. I wouldnt do it again but it was an experience ticked that one off the list... Date of review: October 5, 2009
