In short: Well organised, friendly race! In full: Well organised as always, I think this is the 8th time I have run Wissey, last was in 2012, it was as good as it's ever been, great local club feel about it, nice course on country lanes, good value too. Marshals were very encouraging. I am sure I will be back. Date of review: September 7, 2015
In short: My first time at Bewl 15 and I will be back! In full: Organisation is spot on, great race, great venue, very friendly, excellent marshals, frequent water stops, also energy drinks, oranges & sweets, had it not been raining I am sure there would have been more supporters out on the course. First 10 miles were fairly easy running the last 5 were a little more challenging in places. Free home baked cakes, beer and drinks, great goody bag, medal and tech t at the end, not forgetting the brass band and the piper. All in all great value and great fun. Date of review: July 5, 2015
In short: Slick organisation In full: Well organised and very friendly race, great attention to detail and a fab day out. Normally after a marathon most people leave after they have completed their run, not so here, lots of runners stayed to cheer and encourage those still running, it was a pleasure to be able to stay to cheer in the final runners. Thank you TZ Date of review: June 3, 2015
In short: Overpriced In full: Finishers medal and half a cup of water, no goody bag, limited prizes 1st male & female prize and 1st male and female vet. Not good value for £16/£18 or on the day £20/£24 wouldn't do it again. Date of review: November 9, 2014
In short: Lovely low key village race In full: I really enjoyed this race, £10 entry, no goodie bag & no frills, prize for 1st male & female, 1st Stathern runner & 1st junior with all proceeds going to charity which was spot on! Race headquarters was at the local pub, it was a pity they didn't open for refreshments as there wasn't anywhere to get coffee or snacks, I think they missed a great opportunity to boost their takings with a captive audience. In short: Fantastic organisation and beautiful surroundings! In full: First couple of miles are downhill which I love, mildly challenging hills at 6 and just before 12 miles, lovely route throught the forest. Excellent organisation, well marshalled and well supported. I don't quite understand why some runners shut themselves off with iPods, they missed the birdsong. This has been a race I have wanted to do for the last couple of years, glad I managed to make it this year. Nice medal for all finishers and a tech shirt for the first 50 men & women. I believe that the correct decision was made in postponing the race by 2 weeks, the amount of snow that was covering the midlands on the original weekend would have prevented many entrants getting to the start, thank you for making that call and for rearranging the date so quickly, it's was much appreciated! In short: Thoroughly enjoyable! In full: A fairly challenging 10 k race due to muddy conditions, but for an off road run & with the weather refusing to move into spring it's just as you would expect. I thought it was well organised and I was very appreciative of the cheerful marshals who must have been standing out in the cold weather for some considerable time. Can I suggest using marker tape in a couple of the places where the route was less obvious? It was fairly cheap to enter (£10) so thought the memento was sufficient. I will be back! :-) Date of review: March 10, 2013
In short: In my opinion this should be voted number 1 race of the year! In full: My first time at Chester and how great it was! The organisers have everything 100% spot on, not the cheapest to enter but most certainly value for money. The venue was good, route fantastic, support and friendliness outstanding!
Although not a flat course I couldn't agree that there were hills, undulations yes, but not hills. I rather prefer this type of course anyway, flat is boring and can be harder work.
There is so much that I could say but I wont ramble on. Pity I lived to far away to meet up for the training runs, I think that was a particularly nice touch. Whenever I am ready to run a marathon again I am pretty sure it will be this one. Just one downside and that was the start & finish on the muddy, slippery track. I did manage to bag an excellent PB though!
A big thank you to everyone involved in making this a most perfect event! Date of review: October 8, 2012
In short: A great endurance race! In full: I have run this 4 times now, it's great for building endurance but very hard work! I struggled more than usual this year, maybe due to heat/humidity but still managed to get in under 3 hours *just* To the person who didn't understand the first loop round - this helps to string out the runners a bit so the fast guys aren't caught up behind us mid/slow paced runners at the kissing gate etc and the remark on it being more than 18 mies = well it should be, it is advertised as 30k not 18 miles. Big thanks to all involved in the organisation and on the day! Date of review: August 20, 2012
