In short: Great Course, Great Weather, Great People
In full: First HM for me and I loved it up until about mile 9 crossing over them housing estates which seem to go on forever. Loved the 'Waltons' family though with Dad playing drums, mum on guitar, son on keyboards and the baby on maracas. Really made me chuckle. Could have done with water station at mile 9 or 10 as well as the sponges which were very welcomed! Didn't enjoy the last 2 mile long soul destroying stretch back to the start. Seemed to last forever. Overall I had a good time and would definitely do it again! Great first time HM. x

In short: A 5 hour workout!!
In full: This was a brilliantly organised adventure trail event in the middle of the glorious New Forest on a day with 'showers' and sunshine. There were teams of 1, 2, 3 and 4 people and either Novices (like me!) or Masters (obviously done this before..) and it was super friendly. My team were allocated their kayaking time straight away so after 50 minutes of getting wet and an upper arm workout, we start of on our run. The idea was to pick up as many checkpoints as possible (all collected electronically) and each CP is worth points. After the run we completed the mountain bike ride. The time limit is 5hrs for novices and we managed to clock in 6 seconds before our finish time. Thoroughly enjoyed this race and this was my first of its kind. Would recommend for beginners who are fit, and for experts who can really challenge themselves.

In short: Tough beginner race!
In full: Tough hill at halfway point; some annoying barriers by subway when passing under busy road (done twice as on return); some muddy, grassy bits which really needed trail shoes; not very scenic route as very residential. I also found that part of the actual running on the road tough to 'overtake' as it was very much single runner traffic. Wouldn't recommend as a first time or beginner race. Positives are: well marshaled, well organised, friendly and somewhere to grab a coffee before and after.
