In short: Great race, geat marshalling In full: I wasn't planning to run this race as I could not train for the past couple of weeks, went along to support a friend but ended up running with them to help them break the hour. Last hill scuppered that plan unfortunately but she did get a PB. I thoroghly enjoyed the race and was glad I ran it, the marshalls were excellent and as I took things easy it meant I could appreciate the hills instead of dreading them like last year. Will be back next year to hopefully attack the course Date of review: July 20, 2009

In short: Great race- tough hill half way In full: I did this race last and enjoyed it very much, I think it was hot then as well. Very well organised plenty of water. I went off for a PB but forgot about the hill half way. A challenging course the gradual incline between 7-9 was also painful. Beat last years time though so was quite happy with the end result. Was also glad to be going right at the split instead of left with the 10 milers. Date of review: July 2, 2009

In short: Very enjoyable and well organised race In full: 2nd year that I have done this race, only slight moans were the start was different to last year which meant it was cramped. Last year it started further down the road and was better. My Garmin had the course as 10.23km compared to the correct distance last year.
Great organisation, I was there at 7.45am and had no issues with parking although there was a queue but that is to be expected given the numbers taking part. Did not have any problems getting out afterwards either. Loved the course, challenging hill half way and the undulating second half was interesting.
Great goody bag, and lucazade freebies went down well.
Will definately be back next year, one of my top 3 races. Date of review: June 15, 2009

In short: A good run, shame about the delay at the start In full: Numbers should have been sent out beforehand or more people should have been available to hand out numbers to avoid the delay. Could not hear the starter and therefore did not know why there was a delay and everyone was left standing in the cold for almost 10 minutes. Once it started I did enoy the race and the marshalls were very supporitve all the way round. It was my first time running this event and I will be back next year. I would have liked a medal though. Also whilst it did not bother me that there was no water during the race there should have been some at the end. Date of review: March 29, 2009

In short: hilly and challenging but strangely enjoyable. In full: My 4th half marathon first time ffor this race, and managed a PB despite the hills. I was expecting to struggle more given past reviews and the second lap was starting to hurt until 11 miles when the worst of the hills were over. Having mulitple laps helped though as you knew what was coming up on the second time round and could prepare for it. Downhill at the end was a relief.
Marshsalls did an execelent job
Minor gripes, no clear finish line. I just kept going to the medal handout. Goody bag could have been better. Date of review: March 2, 2009

In short: Disappointing course, gate and mud were very frustrating. In full: My Garmin had it as 9.63k so my sub 55 minute time should not really count as my second fastest time for this distance. I was looking forward to this race as it was the first of the year and had high hopes but the lack of organisation before race day should have given me a warning. Confusion at the gate on each lap was annoying and the final insult came when the medals and cheap hats (even my 10 year old daughter looked disgusted at the hat so never to be worn again) were dished out by someone, I am guessing the organiser, who showed absolutley no appreciation for what the runners had achieved. Did not realise that there should have been a T Shirt as well. It is a shame because as this is a early race in the year it would be good to do this again or maybe train a bit harder for the Dartford 10 mile next year. Date of review: January 11, 2009
