In short: Another corker from the boys and girls at balfron!
In full: My 3rd year in a row and it never fails to to the biz. i recommended this race to another running colleague who brought a friend and they, despite the hills, absolutely loved the event. the atmosphere is great, the course hilly but beautiful and the locals are so supportive. i feel like helping out marshaling next year to make a contribution to this race but I'm too selfish to not race it again next year. it's not a pb candidate really but I nearly took 1 50 off last year's time so still very happy. very good course to get your 10k season going. wonderful all round event and possibly my favourite Scottish 10k of the calendar. well done to all involved. 10/10 yet again. I will continue to recommend it to everyone.

In short: Fantastic event, more than just a race.
In full: 2nd time this year and we all had a ball again. Brought our own little stoves and didn't take a chance on last year's terrible catering so no idea if they improved it. Organisation was very good, great fun course but a challenge for any athlete, advanced or novice. At £35 it seems expensive but when you throw in a Ronhill tech tee, decent medal, free camping, free beer tent/band stocked with a good selection of real ales and plenty of catering options, it's a bargain. We're planning next year already.

In short: Amazing but tough course but too busy! Staggered starts next year?
In full: Course was great fun but make no bones about it, it's very tough. Scenery is great, it's fun having to use a head torch and the last ascent is up scree in the dark! Pretty mental running upstream for 5 mins as well. It was too busy in the middle though, had to wait for others to get over an obstacle about 7 times wasting a good couple of mins each time. Had a great time though and will be back for sure next year. One otehr complaint was the catering. The Deerstalker seemed to be run by people who had never catered before. The queue was enormous and it took me 50 mins to get a burger and a portion of chips. It was pretty cold and frosty once the sun went down so this wait for food was terrible. In fact I'm going to say it was appalling. Despite there being hardly any queue in the morning it took them 20 mins to make 3 bacon rolls. After nothing happened, my pal asked if there was any progress, to be told the wind had blown away the ticket orders! So she wasn't going to shout if anyone was still waiting?!!!! So it took her another 5 mins. Outrageous!

In short: Lovely but hilly course, well marshalled and great free buffet at the end. Fantastic day out.
In full: Beware going too fast at the start as there's lots of downhills but yes you guessed it, lots of uphills to compensate. Some steep but short, some long and less steep. Pacing oneself required! Lovely views of the snow covered Pentland hills in undulating countryside. Race was well organised and extremely well marshalled. medal for all finishers and very tasty and comprehensive buffet for all runners at the end, free tea or coffee as well. Quite a bonnie Red Bull lassie dishing out cans of Red Bull as well. Excellent day out.
