In short: Great race but needs work in the organisation In full: Good registration in a hotel but only had two toilets available for all runners. It was very cold this morning, so wanted to get going, a 20 minute delay in starting because A marshal wasn't in place was very frustrating. Very challenging course, fantastic views and gorgeous weather. Needed clearer signs around the course, I overtook someone twice and they somehow finished before me!!! Date of review: January 4, 2015
In short: Loved it! In full: Having had almost 2 years off from racing, this was my first race and I absolutely loved it. Organisation with great atmosphere and lovely scenery made the course fantastic, well done East Grinstead, I will be back! Date of review: September 21, 2014
In short: Ho ho ho well worth it! In full: This was my third year running the Mince Pie 10 and I woke up in the morning with no enthusiasm to do it. Yet again, my spirits were lifted and I throughly enjoy the race. Its well organised, friendly and small in numbers.
Only negative is that its starts quite late at 11am, so it takes up all morning and most of the afternoon by the time you've got home and sorted yourself out. Date of review: December 10, 2012
In short: A lovely race but good value In full: The Bluebell is a good and challenging 10k but the race cost £15 and you only got a drink and cliff bar at the end. No medal or race momento, very disappointing. Date of review: April 23, 2012
In short: A great race, just needs some tweeking! In full: As I first timer is Eastbourne I generally enjoyed the race. Having done a lot of local half marathons, I was looking forward to what Eastbourne had to offer.
The baggage area wasn't secure which was a shame, luckily I had a friend to hold my bag. The warm up and the atmosphere at the start was great!
The course itself was good despite the weather, the incline and length of the hill between miles 2-4 what longer and steeper than expected, I managed most of it and I run hills!
Despite the weather the crowds cheering and the marshalls were fab. The water stations were crowded, could have done with another table and a few more helpers at each station and I believe this was the first half marathon I've done that didn't have energy drinks around the course and I've done plenty but there was plenty of water and jelly babies at miles 6 and 8.
Good medal, a glass of water, a banana and chocolate at the end was just what the doctor ordered! Date of review: March 5, 2012
In short: Top notch as usual! In full: My second year and well worth the trip back. A bargin at £9 with a great medal, goody bag and mince pie. Marshalls were fabulous all the way round the windy cold course. Well done Seaford Striders!! Date of review: December 12, 2011
In short: My first marathon and in my home town - Brilliant! In full: Watched the Brighton Marathon last year which inspired me to do it this year. Organisation was brilliant, much more toilets than last year, queues were long as usual but moved quicky, so no problems. The weather was unbelievably hot and lots of people suffered but the St Johns crew were brilliant all along the course. Support from the crowd was amazing, a man standing on his 1st Floor flat window ledge in Kemp Town playing the bongos was brilliant. Well done! Date of review: April 11, 2011
In short: Better than last year but still room for improvement In full: After running the terrible event of last year and hearing that there had been big changes I gave it another chance. The course and most of the organisation was better.
Water stations were not where they were meant to be which was very frustrating. There wasn't many barriers and I had spectators running across in front of me and the atmosphere wasn't brilliant and still no goody bag but the medal was much better.
Good but still room for a little improvement. Date of review: February 28, 2011
In short: Excellent pre-christmas race! In full: A well organised race from Seaford Striders. The hill was a killer and the mud made the feet heavy but the views were amazing and the goodie bag fabulous. Will be doing it again. Date of review: December 13, 2010
