In short: Incredible race, scenery and atmosphere. Plus suffering and mud!
In full: Wonderful race. I think I ran the whole way on adrenaline. Tough course with mud and steep hills the whole way. But atmosphere was fantastic and very well organised with lots of support. The knockout aspect made it exciting and made me suffer, but all worth it. Finish excellent- great beer garden, brass band and friendly people. Real feel good factor to it.

In short: Great Atmosphere
In full: What a great race. Poor organisation at start with directions/ traffic/ getting people to start. But otherwise fantastic- lovely course, lots of drinks, closed roads, most of all- great crowds. Incredible support on Ecclesall Road- as good as anything in the London marathon.

In short: demoralising course
In full: Weather did make things horrible, but surely there is nicer scenery and better routes than running up and down the front all day? The ½ seemed an ok route but anyone who had to suffer the marathon deserves more than a medal. Marshals did seem to be helpful but there were many problems- in places you ran on your own and weren't even sure you were in a race or not- dodging the tourists on the prom. Mile markers seemed badly placed or non existent. not enough water stations. The 'view'- about 10 miles ahead of you down the concrete promenade! Also the fact that marathon runners didnt get a tee shirt, but other runners seemed to.
As an experienced runner I found it a challenge and did ok, but as a beginner it might have put me off running altogether. Many improvements needed for next year, if there is a next year.

In short: Fabulous. great scenery, course and good atmosphere
In full: Fantastic race, good day out. Lucky that the weather was good, otherwise would be a bit tougher and not as much fun.
