In short: Speedy Flat Course In full: I PB'd (always a bonus) at this race as did many of my Club mates this is flatest Half Marathon course I know of. Sad to see some of the fastest runners (Read on one of the ratings below)got lead of course by the lead cyclist and confused by the course. I don't run that fast and read the signs and directions from the marshals who did a super job obviously some of the fastest runners are concentrating so hard on running they actually forget to look where they are running. This is my second run at Gosport and I have never had a problem understanding the course. I think the start was much better than last year, the new Sea front section and the band added to the atmosphere and made the race slightly more scenic. I enjoyed the added water feature (couldn't be easily avoided) and even saw a rainbow at one point. The goody bag, stuffed with food and the medal and Key ring was a great for a race of this price, the race organisers have obviously taken on board some of the complaint from previuos years and sorted things out which is Great. I would recommend this race to a begginer wishing to run this race as their first Half, due to the terrain, even though this race is a bit club orintated due to being part of the Hampshire Road Race Leauge. The only thing I think that could possibly improve the race next year is chip timing, however I beleive this would add to the cost of the race by a few quid. This would be helpful to slower runners at the back and possibly make clearing the finish area a bit quicker. Date of review: November 15, 2009

In short: Excellent Weather - Mostly Traffic free In full: I spectated last year as my Big Sis was running. The weather this year couldn't have contrasted more, as we both ran the 21 miles this year. I didn't know what quite what to expect as this was my longest race to date. The rather gentle looking hill that you do at 14 and then again at 20, did for me finishing the race in my estimated time (thats my excuse anyway). Any way i shall definetly try and make it back for more Jelly Babies next year as I know have a target to beat. I think this race was excellently organised apart from the Finish which others have commented on here. My suggetion should the race organisers be reading this would be to move the Finish down the Downs Link path so the race finished near to one of the Football pitches near the leisure center. This would make the course a few hundred yards longer. However This would however keep spectators and tired runners away from Cars and delivery Lorries on the narrow road where the current finish is. It would also be nearer to the race HQ in the bandroom and Leisure Centre showers should people wish to use them. Date of review: April 3, 2009

In short: Great Scenery, Well Organised In full: Great Scenery down through Woodford valley. Plenty of well organised water stations I got a 3 Min PB although for faster runners this may be tougher with a sharp hill at 6 miles. I personally didn't witness any impatient drivers like other reviewers. I think this is a Fantastic course for Newer runners, I got lucky with a spot prize and with a T Shirt and this being a Chip timed race makes this fantastic Value for money Date of review: March 9, 2009
