In short: Superbly organised
In full: Another super race by the Chester Half and full marathon team. Epic numbers of portaloos at the start meant short queues, plenty of space at the start so quickly into your running once over the line, good support around the course. Finish very atmospheric, quality t-shirt and great goodie bag. The only thing I'd change is to remove the purgatory that is the pre-race mass aerobics! (It's just not my thing!)

In short: Top notch in everyway!
In full: My first marathon and let's be honest I was nervous. But upon arrival at race HQ I was greeted by friendly volunteers asking was I OK, did I need directions etc? Great facilities at the racecourse and then out onto a great course through country lanes and picturesque villages. There are 3 hills of significance - start, middle and end but they aren't too bad. Lots of friendly marshall on course and efficient water and feed stations at 3 miles intervals. There are even loos at the water stops and bins for your rubbish around the course. I would definitely recommend this event for marathon newbies looking for a friendly and encouraging event.

In short: Well organised (excellent communication), course is not flat but no nightmare hills either!
In full: My local half marathon on a new course. The course is equal to the old route, particularly the second half with more variety than the first half which is down a long straight road. Tough-ish hill in the last half mile but then great finish with big crowds by the town hall. No energy gels left when I got to the half way point at 1 hour. Don't understand how this can happen. Surely some simple maths to estimate how many are needed?! Quick to cross the line (only 3 mins for me in the sub 2:15 pack) and the inclusion of portaloos every 3 miles a very civilising touch (no lines of men in every other bush!). Very well organised, excellent pre-race communication from the organisers and their late decision to stop parking on the racecourse a wise choice having seen how squelchy it was in places. Now have to decide whether to make Chester Marathon in October my first marathon......(gulp)?!
