In full: Lots of positives - great support from local people on the route, fantastic marshals, good parking and start area, friendly and in places a really nice route. Negatives - two big bottlenecks in first half mile - narrow road and dreaded underpass where you had no option but to wait and file down steps - ruining PB hopes; very long queue for baggage at the end (anyone parked nearby would do better to leave bags in the car), too many people wearing headphones. In short: Love it! In full: Got PB despite the hills (they're al in the mind!) so on the look out for a flat race now. Big improvements on last year - apart from the cooling weather. Great organisation and a lovely scenic route. Well done to the organisers and thank you to all the marshals, this is a great race well worth travelling to. One little thing - could you put a few big bins on the route for people's empty gel packets, lucozade bottles, etc. Date of review: October 31, 2011

In short: Great but course could have been better In full: Lovely venue but the course itself was disappointing and a little dull. It was also quite challenging with several hilly sections including a ridiculously steep grassy climb for the the last 500 yards. HOWEVER it was brilliantly organised with great marshalling and an excellent village fete atmosphere at the start with some good family activities. Date of review: May 17, 2011

In short: Brilliantly organised, well supported and a cracking route In full: Every marathon has to have a little grim section to remind you of the harsh reality of what you're putting yourself through and Brighton is no exception - lets just say there aren't many postcards available of Shoreham Harbour. This couple of mile stretch aside Brighton is a cracking mix of country and city - the country bits with lovely sea views, the city bits with support that's on a par with London. I had a wonderful time returning to my home city for this race - it was a hot, hot day but the organisers did a great job with water and there were even a couple of people who'd dragged hose pipes out on to the road. Some of the music on the route was great too, and much appreciated. The finnish along Marine Parade was just amazing. Loved it, loved it, loved it. I may take some convincing to do it again though. I don't think I'm cut out for marathons. Date of review: April 13, 2011

In short: Is the hill getting longer? In full: A great event bigger than ever this year as it was the 20th one - now a festival taking over the whole park. That side of it was great but did detract quite a bit from the running - especially the children's fun runs later in the day. HOWEVER this is always a brilliant day, wonderfully organised and lots of fun. The hill up by Ally Park Station is a killer, mainly cos you have to do it twice but also cos it never stops. It really hurt me this year but somehow I still managed a PB. Highly reccomended to anyone who lives in North London but be quick next year it sells out very fast. Date of review: May 17, 2010

In short: The second best race in London (probably) In full: Last year this was great, this year it was excellent - they'd listened and added more loos and the whole planning, organisation and marshalling was superb. I had a great run. There's only a few slopes and the main difficulty in achieving your best time is overcrowding. The only downer is the incredibly large number of runners with headphones - which made it quiet and a bit tricky with the old over-taking. Date of review: October 12, 2009
