In short: Good organisation, lousy goody bag In full: This is a well-organised race with friendly marshals and good facilities. The goody bag was disappointing, though - mine contained just a bottle of water, a banana and a mouthful of muesli bar. The race website said "quality goody bag" and having paid a £15 entry fee I did expect better. Date of review: February 22, 2010

In short: Great race spoilt by rubbish drinks stations, rubbish goody bag In full: This race has an excellent, flat course that shouts out "PB here I come". Sadly, there were just not enough staff on the drinks stations and with road closures in effect the drinks should be available on both sides of the road. Then the goody bag was a great disappointment. If that's the best that Sainsbury's can do then why have them as a race partner?
I'm doing the City of Norwich Half Marathon at the end of next month - I hear they've got road closures and they've sorted out the parking this year; and you get a decent medal and goody bag at the finish. Date of review: October 12, 2009

In short: Good to see ipod wearers disqualified! In full: Hope heartening it is to see this race taking positive steps to ban the wearing of ipods. People who wear them in races are so selfish and a risk to everyone taking part -including themselves. Well done Felixstowe RR!! Date of review: October 5, 2009

In short: Why does such a fabulous race have such a rubbish t-shirt? In full: The one disappointment for me was the really shoddy t-shirt - in size XL, of course!! If this is supposed to be the world's best marathon then where is the technical t-shirt that we'd be proud to wear when out training or down the pub, not a flimsy cotton piece of tat that won't even survive one wash? Otherwise, a superb event.... Date of review: April 27, 2009

In short: What a joke! In full: The overall organisation of this event was seriously lacking in far too many departments. Where were the time indicator boards at the start to help folk line up in some semblence of order? The drinks stations had no warning signs that I could see (Drinks 200m)and were woefully understaffed. And how come the Lucozade trade stand was present in the car park but there was hardly any Lucozade on the course? Then there were far too many places where the course went over junctions without marshals. And what was going on at the finish? Nowhere near enough staff to hand out drinks, just one person handing out medals! The baggage store was a farce and miles from the finish. Someone's made a fortune out of today at the expence of us runners. I'm surprised that a global brand like Nike would want to be associated with such a shambles. Will I be back? Not on your life! In short: Good organisation, but the experince was blighted by two selfish runners and their incessant GPS alarmss In full: Overall this was a well organised race with friendly marshals, good water stations and very little traffic on the race route. The baggage arrangements creaked just before the off - perhaps we could be issued with labels when we pick up our race numbers next time? Nothing to do with the race organisation, though, but the whole experience was blighted for me today by two selfish souls who insisted that everyone around them should be royally entertained by the incessant alarms on their GPS watches that went off several times each minute like unanswered telephones. I heard quite a few people grumbling to each other and I even heard another runner speak to them about this in a very reasonable manner but these two just couldn't see beyond the end of their own Garmin-reliant little worlds. So please don't foist your overbearing alarms on us in future - we want to run our own races, not yours! Date of review: February 15, 2009

In short: Thank you for an excellent day In full: I just can't believe how some people come on here and moan about the slightest thing. I bet they've never organised a race themselves. It's no surprise that this race attracted over 2,500 (I think) entries and is BARR gold graded. The medal and t-shirt were excellent, the chip timing arrangements were really impressive, the marshals and people at the water stations were just so encouraging. And you can't blame Norwich AC for the soggy car parks. Just lighten up and give credit where it's due, please!! Date of review: December 2, 2008
